Sony PS-LX3BT and PS-LX5BT
Has it really been seven years since Sony’s last new turntable? The PS-LX310BT set the bar pretty high. Now the company has done the incredible and given us two new record players at once, the PS-LX3BT and PS-LX5BT. Both offer Bluetooth and simple operation, plus a shared design aesthetic.

Two New Models
The two new Sony models feature both Bluetooth and wired operation. The Bluetooth connectivity supports aptX, aptX-Adaptive, and Hi-Res Wireless Audio. There’s also a USB output with three-level gain control for recording vinyl to digital. They both feature a cartridge, aluminum platter, and transparent dust cover, with 33⅓ and 45 RPM record-support, and include a 45 RPM adapter.

Sony PS-LX3BT
The PS-LX3BT is the entry-level model of the two, designed to be easy to use for newbies. It offers a built-in phono equalizer plus single-button playback. The included cartridge is an MM-type with a stylus pressure of 3.5g ± 0.5g. According to Sony, “It delivers warm analog sound with smooth tracking, ideal for everyday listening.”

Sony PS-LX5BT
Moving up the record player experience ladder, we have the PS-LX5BT. Engineered for those who want more out of their turntable, it offers refinements to enhance listening, such as the rigid one-piece body, aluminum tone arm, rubber mat and quiet circuit design, all of which suppress unwanted vibrations.
The PS-LX5BT has the same auto-play functionality as the PS-LX3BT, as well as Bluetooth connectivity and an integrated phono amp. Where it differs is in the gold plating for the phono connectors. Additionally, the cartridge is a high-precision MM-type with a stylus pressure of 2.0g ± 0.5g, delivering “rich sound with a wide soundstage – ideal for focused, dedicated listening beyond everyday use,” according to the company.

Pricing and Availability
Both models are available now from Sony. The PS-LX3BT costs $399.99 while the PS-LX5BT is $499.99.
