Reflex Acoustics Reflexive EQ: Free Dynamic EQ with 4 Bands

There are more and more free alternatives to expensive dynamic EQ plugins such as FabFilter Pro-Q. Just a couple of weeks ago, we checked out ZL Equalizer 2. While it offers fewer bands and the GUI doesn’t look quite as refined, Reflexive EQ by Reflex Acoustics is another alternative worth checking out.
Reflexive EQ offers up to four bell curves, each with the familiar gain, frequency, and Q controls. The bands are easily adjustable by dragging the nodes on the EQ curve, and each bell filter can process Mid and/or Side information.
In addition, Reflexive EQ offers precise dynamic control. Each band can be used in compression or expansion mode with adjustable attack and release times. An automatic detector threshold ensures that the EQ responds the same to loud and quiet material.
Moreover, Reflexive EQ has an external sidechain input that can be used for ducking. In this mode, it even highlights potentially clashing frequencies, making it super-easy to carve out space in your mix.
Reflexive EQ is available for macOS and Windows in VST3, AU, and AAX formats.
LongTail Audio KonvIR Lite: Virtual Acoustic Spaces

KonvIR Lite by LongTail Audio is a unique reverb plugin based on acoustic simulation. Instead of recreating the sound of real acoustic spaces, it uses simulated acoustic environments with a specific geometry. According to the developer, the engine calculates how the sound waves would behave if they were to travel through the virtual acoustic space, taking into account the walls, openings, and surfaces. There’s even a cool visualizer that gives you an idea of the shape of the space and the movement of the sound waves.
The free version offers four unique acoustic spaces to choose from, each with its own distinct characteristics. There’s also a paid Pro version ($19) that comes with 15 spaces, over 100 listening positions, and even virtual head simulation.
KonvIR Lite is available for macOS and Windows in VST3 and AU formats.
DAWJunkie Lil’ Miss Doubler: Free Vocal Doubler

Lil’ Miss Doubler by DAWJunkie does just what she says: this is a handy free vocal doubler plugin that thickens your vocal tracks, simulating the effect of double tracking.
The controls are simple. You can dial in a delay to simulate timing inaccuracies, and adjust the pan. Judging by the demo video, the Intensity knob applies pitch modulation. Finally, there’s a Mix knob to blend the effect and original signal.
Lil’ Miss Doubler is available for macOS and Windows in VST and AU formats.
