Ibanez Bernth BER10: Modern Metal Signature for the YouTuber!
Gotoh locking tuners, custom humbuckers and a mean look!
Bernd “Bernth” Brodträger and Ibanez have teamed up to create the Ibanez Bernth BER10, a signature model for metalheads and shredders. The YouTuber and guitar teacher, along with a Japanese company, present a guitar packed with modern features for brutal sounds.
Signature Guitar for Bernth
Most of you don’t need me to explain who Bernth is. But not everyone is familiar with the world of YouTubers and content creators. Because in recent years, it has become increasingly common for major guitar and pedal manufacturers to team up not only with guitarists from bands, but also with those who are constantly online. In some cases, their reach is greater than that of many touring musicians.
Whether it’s Rabea Massaad, Paul Davids, or Agufish, it’s their thousands (or in some cases millions) of followers on YouTube and social media that make signature products from them so successful. Now, it’s Bernth’s turn (he has had signature pickups for a while already). Austrian Bernd “Bernth” Bernd “Bernth” Brodträger has a YouTube channel with over 1.4 million followers, as well as the Bernth Guitar Academy with almost 130,000 subscribers.
Brodträger also offers a Patreon channel featuring extensive guitar lessons, and he is successful as a solo artist and session guitarist, primarily focusing on various genres of metal. So, the Ibanez Brenth BER10 is only logical.
Ibanez Bernth BER10 with Fishman Fluence Pickups and Push/Pull
At this year’s Guitar Summit, the Ibanez Bernth BER10 was one of the stars of the show. Based on the AZ series, this model features an alder body, roasted maple neck (with AZ oval C profile), and ebony fretboard. 24 jumbo frets, 12-inch fingerboard radius, 25.5-inch scale length—standard specs, just as it should be.
Rein optisch kommt die Metalaxt schön böse daher. Das mattschwarze Finish des ST-Modells in Kombination mit dem schwarzen Schlagbrett mit minimalem weißen Binding, die Pickup-Abdeckungen in mattem Silbermetallic und vor allem die Reverse Sharktooth Inlays verleihen der Gitarren eine herrlich doomige Aura. Ansonsten bietet die Ausstattung Modernstes.
Elsewhere, you get locking tuners (Gotoh MG-T) for quick string changes, a Gotoh T1502 tremolo bridge for dive bombers, and two Fishman Fluence Bernth Custom humbuckers. Not only do these sound great as is, they also offer three different voicings. The five-way switch combines and changes between them, and through push/pull functionality of the tone control you get access to the third voicing. That makes for eight (!) different tonal possibilities.
