Roland Is Teasing: Tomorrow Returns – But What Is It?
If you’ve visited Roland’s website or Instagram page today, you may have stumbled across a mysterious teaser titled “Tomorrow Returns”. Could something big be in the works?
Tomorrow Returns: What’s Coming From Roland?
A mysterious counter, the number 1000, and flickering images of vibrating speakers: Roland launched a teaser website today called “Tomorrow Returns” that has us puzzled. What are they keeping secret from us? Could something big be coming soon?

Even more interesting than the video clip is the underlying groove. The 909-style drums sound almost outrageously fat and are garnished with modulated filter sweeps, stutter effects, 808 basses, and synth sounds. It’s probably safe to assume that Roland’s new instrument – if it exists – is either a drum machine, groovebox, sampler, or something in between. I think we can rule out an Aerophone … 😉
Has Roland revamped the TR-8S and TR-6S drum machines or even developed successors? Are we looking at a replacement for the MC-707 and MC-101? Is it just one device or a whole series, as with the AIRA Compact line? Or are we completely off track and it’s all Cloud-based? One thing is for sure: “Tomorrow Returns” has us up on our toes! Back to the groove future?! Sign me up!
So when will Roland reveal the secret? What’s the counter counting? And what’s the deal with “1000”?
We don’t know when Tomorrow will return, but when it does, you’ll be the first to know here at GEARNEWS!

It looks like the Egyptian Lover in the ad. He’s known for being a pioneer and innovator of the TR808 so maybe its drum machine 808 related?
TR-1000. Underworld guy tested it. Seen several times live. £3000 multi engine machine with AI.
Yay! Another drum machine for the price of a used car. 👍
If it’s that expensive instant fail. More like $1,200 range. I’m guessing it’s the MC1000.
TR-1000
I hope it’s a groovebox, but one that completely abandons the typical convoluted and layered Roland UI protocols. Something simple and intuitive to use, please. I would buy the hell out of something like that.
I could have sworn it may have been a Roland Cloud product…guess I might be wrong.
