Furch Pioneer: Innovative, Affordable, Portable. Is This the Ultimate Travel Guitar?
Including the all new Booster Soundport!
Following the success of the Little Jane Series, Czech manufacturer Furch is taking a big step forward with the new Furch Pioneer series. The four new acoustic guitars sound as good as the bigger, more premium Furch models, but they’re still ultra-portable travel guitars. And they are more affordable.
Furch Pioneer Releases Four New Travel Guitar
The Little Jane series impressively demonstrated a line of acoustic guitars with great sound in a travel guitar format. Furch has taken this concept even further with the new Furch Pioneer series. Not only is the design and sound based on the company’s higher-end series, but the manufacturer has also managed to keep the price down considerably.

Furch Pioneer includes four models: Pioneer-CM a, Pioneer-EM a, Pioneer-MM a, and Pioneer-ER a. Each acoustic guitar features a newly developed sound port, or rather, five of them: the Booster Soundport. According to Furch, this improves the projection and resonance of the smaller travel guitar body.

According to the manufacturer, this way players have their own quasi-stage monitor with them at all times. Additionally, the CNR System Active is also built into each of the four Furch Pioneer models. This special neck construction is designed to adjust to temperature and humidity fluctuations automatically. Furthermore, a large, easily accessible screw inside the body enables convenient adjustment of the guitar’s string action.
How Do the Four Models Differ?
The four models from Furch Pioneer differ in the woods used for the top, back, and sides. Each model comes with a mahogany neck and an ebony fretboard and bridge. Each guitar comes with the same dimensions and body shape: 615 mm (24.2 inches) scale length, 45 mm nut width, travel body size with a cutaway.

The four models differ as follows:
- Pioneer-ER a: Solid Engelmann spruce top, solid rosewood back and sides.
- Pioneer-MM a: Solid mahogany top, solid mahogany back and sides.
- Pioneer-CM a: Solid cedar top, solid mahogany back and sides.
- Pioneer-EM a: Solid Engelmann spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides.
All four models differ slightly in price and, as you can see, also in appearance. In terms of timbre, all four guitars also suit different sonic tastes.
