Spotify is expanding its Spotify AI DJ service to include direct voice interaction for the first time. This breaks down the one-way relationship between listeners and AI-powered music presenters. Users in more than 60 markets can now use voice commands to specify exactly what they want to hear, whether by genre, mood, artist or activity. So who needs a “real” DJ?
Spotify AI DJ Goes Interactive – Here’s How to Control it With Your Voice
This new Spotify AI DJ feature is currently only available in English and is still in beta. If you were previously satisfied with simply playing and skipping tracks, you can now have more control over your music selection and make your personal music stream much more active.
Spotify AI DJ is still accessible from the app’s search function, where it can be launched. Once activated, Spotify AI DJ will play personalized music as usual, with short commentary between tracks. To change the direction, simply press and hold the DJ button, wait for the beep, and say what you want – for example, “Play some heavy rock” or “I want techno for my workout at the gym”. The AI analyzes the request in real time and delivers suitable track suggestions based on both algorithms and editorial recommendations from Spotify.
