Warm Audio has teamed up with YouTube creator Ryan “Fluff” Bruce to launch his new signature Fluff Drive pedal ahead of NAMM this year. This limited-edition pedal is designed to tighten up your tone and draws on a familiar overdrive style.

Fluff Drive

The new Fluff Drive is Warm Audio’s first-ever signature pedal and will be available in two finishes: White and Teal. Both do the same and cost the same $199, but for some reason, they decided to launch with two colour schemes.

It is aimed at tightening up higher gain tones, so potentially perfect for metalheads!

Signature Pedal

Ryan Bruce is a guitarist and producer, and behind the Riffs, Beards & Gear YouTube channel, he is no stranger to endorsement and signature deals. He has a Fluff StingRay Sterling by Music Man, most recently, and now he has a signature drive pedal.

Tube Screamer?

The Fluff Drive has definitely drawn inspiration from the classic Tube Screamer, but it is its own thing and offers many more modern features for a high-gain guitarist.

The JRC4558 Op-Amp is in the circuit and uses a switchable internal voltage doubler to increase the supply voltage from 9V to 18V for more internal headroom.

Noise Gate

The switch for this is on the back of the pedal, along with another switch to turn the built-in noise gate on (with a knob on the front to set the Gate level). It’s an all-analog drive circuit and uses a combination of discrete transistors, JFETs, and the aforementioned JRC4558 Op-Amp to create its tight gain tones.

Mid Boost

It also includes a Mid Enhance switch, selectable between pre and post-gain, or off to push those mids even further if required. This complements the more familiar Drive, Level, Tone controls we are all used to from TS-style drive pedals. Finally, a Modded Low Boost with Classic or Low B settings (perfect for down-tuned guitars).

Who is it for?

This seems like a very capable drive pedal, aimed at players who either want to juice their existing traditional British-style amp or need to tighten up their modern high-gain amp even further. The updated/modified TS-style overdrive certainly offers a great range of options in one pedal.

I like that it comes with Warm Audio’s build quality and 5-year warranty, as I own a few of their pedals, and they are robust and sound great.

MSRP – $199 each for these limited edition White or Teal pedals
