When you need an affordable solution for content creation, the Behringer D2 Podcast Pro provides all the essential features to get started.

Already, Behringer has quite a range of USB mics available, but the D2 has certainly been created specifically with podcasting, streaming, and video content in mind.

Although it’s a creator-focused mic, the D2 is versatile enough to use in any recording situation. For starters, the USB port allows up to 24-bit 96 kHz recording, and there is an XLR output to use it as a traditional analogue microphone.

Its pickup pattern has been designed with more directionality, so as to avoid any unwanted reflectivity from less-than-ideal recording environments.

More Information

As a dynamic microphone, it naturally captures in a more localized vicinity than the average condenser mic but be aware that dynamics are generally low-output devices.

This means that the built-in preamp and interface will provide the optimal gain level for USB connectivity, but you might need a preamp when using the XLR output to get the best possible signal-to-noise ratio.

The 30mm diaphragm will capture speech or vocals nicely, but you can also try it out on amp cabinets or even hand-held percussion instruments.

Apart from the included desktop tripod, you also get a shockmount and a windshield, so you’re well-equipped for a wide range of applications and recording situations.

The onboard interface also provides a microphone mute button, a level indicator, volume control, headphones output, and direct monitoring capabilities.

Overall, the D2 looks like a great option if you’re getting into the content creation game for the first time, especially if you’re a musician who can harness some of its recording benefits too.
