Modular company SynTesla is finally making its Hans Zimmer-commissioned GIORGIO III massive modular available for the general public – but in much smaller systems. The first to break out is MegaHertz, a two-voice synth system with 20 modules.

In October, Hollywood composer and famed synthesizer enthusiast Hans Zimmer revealed the massive modular system that he was taking on tour with him. Dubbed GIORGIO III, it’s a stunningly gorgeous steampunk-styled mega modular from French boutique manufacturer SynTesla. We talked a little about it in our weekly roundup Synth Journal, so head there to learn more about it.

SynTesla is now giving the fans what they want: their own GIORGIO III. Well, in a manner of speaking. You can now get your hands on one of the two-voice 5U systems broken out from Zimmer’s wall o’ synth: MegaHertz. The first of three planned systems (Giga Hertz is coming in the second half of 2026 and TeraHertz is planned for 2027), MegaHertz includes 20 Moog Modular-sized modules in a breathtakingly beautiful handcrafted wooden case with solid oak sides.

SynTesla MegaHertz: Mega Modules

The MegaHertz system includes 20 modules as well as a power supply specifically designed for SynTesla modules, a “particularly efficient power filter,” and a 32-slot distribution board. As for the modules themselves, MegaHertz comes loaded with two VCOs, a wavefolder, a C.L.O. mixer with constant output level, a diode ladder filter, a 6- to 24dB lowpass filter, two dual attenuators/boosters, two dual VCAs, four DADSR envelope generators, a buffered multiplier, a super-LFO + Xpander, one triple logic module, a quadruple attenuator/mixer, a three-band resonator, and a 4/2 mixer.

The site doesn’t go into too much detail about the modules, with the exception of the VCO, LFO and mixer.

The VCO Hz-OSC560 offers a frequency range of 15Hz-15Khz and is stable over more than nine octaves! It features six waveforms: saw, sine, triangle, square, pulse and internal mixer saw + tri + pulse, with PWM, and through-zero phase modulation and frequency modulation.

Moving on, the Hz-LFO516 Low Frequency Oscillator features 16 waveforms divided into two banks, a waveshaper, tap tempo and sync in/clock out, cycle time division and multiplication, waveform sequence and a smooth filter, among other parameters.

Finally, the Hz-M542 4/2 Mixer has two independent signal paths, “allowing you to mix audio or CV sources independently and simultaneously in various configurations: 1/3, 2/2, 3/2, etc,” according to SynTesla.

SynTesla MegaHertz: An Erotic Experience

The Mega Hertz looks like a solid modular synth with most everything you could need for subtractive synthesis. But is it erotic? That would be a hard yes.

“I love French ingenuity, imagination and synthesizers,” said Hans Zimmer. “They are not machines, but artists, designed with inspiring beauty and aesthetics. The sound is strikingly beautiful and voluptuous. A synthesizer, an erotic experience.”

SynTesla MegaHertz: Pricing and Availability

The SynTesla MegaHertz is handcrafted in France. Accordingly, the number of units manufactured will be very limited, with a total of only 15 planned.

The price is €8160 (tax included). They’re expected to be available from the second quarter of 2026.
