When it comes to software of its kind VST Live Pro is still in its relative infancy, but how does it compare to Apple’s MainStage, which is a popular choice for touring bands?
Steinberg VST Live Pro 2
With VST Live Pro 2, the platform combines features for music performance, audio processing, lighting control, and video sync, making it a unique tool in the live music environment.
In addition to the DMX mixer, you now have DMX plug-ins. This allows you to create light sequences to match your stage performances. Now, you can add drama to different segments of your live set or create specific patterns to work with different songs.
Also included in version 2 is the versatile Flex Loops function. Here, you can make adjustments to the duration of each part, using continuous looping or a specified amount of repeats. What’s more, VST Live Pro 2 also has versatile Automation features.
Any control input can be recorded even without being linked with a parameter. Furthermore, the recorded automation can be assigned later, so you can free up actions during your live performances.
Another exciting addition is Focus Control. This gives you a customizable interface for creating control sets to access some of the most important tools during your shows. With this tool, you can make adjustments to your set in the moment, allowing you to prioritize the music elements.
