SSL SpringVerb: Vintage-style Spring Reverb with Modern Controls
Take control of spring reverb shaping in a new way.
The SSL SpringVerb is a new take on spring reverb processing, a plugin that gives you plenty of sonic control to shape sounds in your mixes.
Usually, spring reverb can be a little tricky to incorporate into a dense mix. It has a tendency to engage the midrange and high frequencies in a way that can reduce the overall mix clarity, which is the opposite of what you want from a reverb.

However, SpringVerb provides you with a far wider range of controls than the average spring verb plugin, which lets you access a range of classic spring reverb sounds and sculpt them for any style of music. You have a choice of three different spring types, including the spring tank from the Roland RE-201 Space Echo, and other classic gear.
What’s more, SpringVerb features an interactive Spring Tank that gives you a choice of 1, 2, or 3 springs and lets you adjust the tension and strength of the spring. In addition, you can trigger the spring manually by clicking on the tank or using the Boing button to create a burst of ambience for creative applications.
Naturally, by changing the tension of the spring, we alter the sonic character of the reverb sound. A tight spring lets the sound spread quickly, while a looser spring can achieve that jangly sound of vintage spring verbs with more varied reflections. To keep things authentic, you may want to reduce the stereo width to mono, or you can widen the sound for a more modern feel.

To shape the reverb, you also have tempo-sync pre-delay, damping controls, and drive to add saturation. Also, there are a few deeper features, including freeze and ducking, which can be triggered externally. Overall, the SpringVerb plugin is a very flexible take on the classic spring verb sound that can give you a new shade in your colour palette for a wide range of acoustically recorded music styles, as well as electronic music.
