Sample Logic Animation Station: intelligent MIDI arpeggiator plug-in
It’s time Sample Logic made a plug-in! Animation Station is a new MIDI arpeggiator that features an intelligent “Step Animator” engine for creating arpeggiated patterns and step sequences on the spot. It also leans heavily on using presets, making it a great tool to combat melodic dry spells.
Sample Logic Animation Station
Getting started is easy enough – insert Animation Station as a MIDI effect after a virtual instrument, hold a key (or chord), and browse the presets until you find something cool. There are over 300 presets, which include melodic and chordal sequences, step-sequenced beats, and glitched-out stutters. If you want to dig deeper into the MIDI programming, the plug-in offers several parameters such as Rate, Arp Type, Velocity, Duration, Transpose, and Stutter rate for each step. You can also adjust BPM, Speed, Range (in octaves), and the number of steps. There’s also a randomizer that does both all-around randomization and specific parameters. You can also drag its MIDI patterns straight into the DAW for tweaking.
The interface looks very sleek and what the plug-in lacks in depth, it makes up with its immediacy. At first glance, Animation Station might just look like a plug-in for EDM and club music producers in a hurry. But you can also use it to create new phrases and melodies for soundtracks or trailers . This MIDI effect is also suitable for glitch sounds and experimental sequences that you may not have the skill or patience to program yourself (yet).
Animation Station – Price and availability
Animation Station is being sold at an introductory price of USD 100, down from USD 150. The plug-in is available in VST, AU, and AAX formats for 64-bit Mac computers running macOS 10.11 or later and 32 or 64-bit Windows computers running version 7 or later. The download includes 300+ arpeggio and sequence presets.

I just canโt figure out what โ insert Animation Station as a MIDI effect after a virtual instrumentโ means. Thanks!
