These new PRS CE 22 Limited Edition models have just been announced and offer the classic 22 fret bolt-on neck design in some great finishes.
PRS CE 22 Limited Edition
The CE 22 Limited Edition is a 22-fret version with a 25-inch scale length and classic PRS curves. The body is made of mahogany, creating a warm sound, while the maple top provides clarity and response.
With a bolt-on maple neck, the guitar offers the comfortable, playable upper access that PRS is renowned for and adds a different character than the glued-in neck models.
58/15 LT
The guitar is equipped with vintage-inspired 58/15 LT pickups, which provide a warm, rich tone and perfectly underscore the classic PRS aesthetic.
The pickup placement also distinguishes it from the 24-fret guitar, as that neck pickup is in a slightly more forward position thanks to the missing 23rd and 24th frets. The push/pull tone control allows for additional tonal variation and flexibility.
The pickups are controlled by a three-way toggle switch and a single volume and tone control.
Nitro Finishes
The limited-edition model is available in five stunning finishes, including Black Amber, Carroll Blue, Faded Blue Smokeburst, Faded Gray Black, and McCarty Sunburst. All guitars are finished with a fine nitrocellulose lacquer.
Hardware includes a PRS Patented Trem system and a set of their Phase III locking tuners with Wing buttons, so expect rock-solid tuning.
Paul Miles, Production Director of PRS Guitars, describes the CE 22 as a model that “offers a classic PRS aesthetic and a voice that combines warmth with bolt-on articulation.” The original CE was introduced in 1988 and served the PRS design with the responsiveness of traditional bolt-on guitars.
