New Sounds for the Access Virus A, Pigments 7 and Hydrasynth – Sounds and Presets
The venerable Access Virus A gets some love from Nick Klimenko, and there are new patches for Pigments 7, Hydrasynth and the Nord Lead 2/2X.
There’s some good old 90s love going on in this week’s selection of sounds and presets for you, including the Access Virus A and Nord Lead 2/2X, both of which have been replicated in software by The Usual Suspects, and both of which will work with these new recreations!
Sounds and Presets
Modular Animations for Access Virus A by Nick Klimenko
The Access Virus range of synthesizers gets a huge amount of love amongst the synth hardware cogniscenti and with very good reason. Part of a glut of 90s virtual analogue synthesizers, it delivered powerful sounds with plenty of hands on control.

There were three versions of the Virus, namely the A, B and C, each improving on the last in numerous ways, and this bank will work on all of them. Interestingly, these will also work with the Osirus and Ostirus from The Usual Suspects.
This collection is based on Nick’s previous Virus bank, Cinematica, but these do not contain the reverb and unsion options, features that were missing on the Virus A.
There are 50 patches, covering all sorts of things, from classic vintage analogue strings, evolving arpeggios and sequences, poly pads and plucks and plenty of monophonic leads and basses.
You can grab this pack from LFOStore for just €15 now.
Rusted Chaos for Arturia Pigments/Analog Lab/AstroLab by Skendi
Yet more love for Arturia’s flagship soft synth, Pigments 7, in the shape of 50 presets by skendi. As the name suggests, these sounds focus on aggressive, harsh and moisy sounds, things that Pigments is more than capable of producing.

There’s probably something for everyone here, no matter what your poison is, or genre you create in. Each on of the 50 presets makes use of the four macros and modwheel for ease of use when shaping the sound to suit your taste.
Because of Arturia’s integration of Pigments into its Analog Lab ecosystem and, therefore, by extension, AstroLab. These presets will work on either Pigments 7, Analog Lab or can be dumped into your AstroLab for ease of use.
Rusted Chaos is available now for $19.95.
Cosmos for ASM Hydrasynth by Mark Sound Design
After this year’s release of the amazing Leviasynth and the ensuing success it has seen, it would be easy to forget the synth that started it all for ASM, the Hydrasynth.

Of course, nobody has done that and the Hydrasynth continues to be the amazing synth it always has been. With its multiple form factors, there’s a Hydrasynth for everyone, and as it is so popular,m there’s always good 3rd party patches out there for it.
Cosmos, by Mark Sound Design, is a new bank that, as its name implies, is inspired by the deep, unexplored universe. There are big, evolving pads and textures, lots of delicate arpeggios and atmospheric sounds on offer here.
Each patch makes use of the 8 macros, allowing you to shape the sound your way easily, whilst the mod wheel and famous polyphonic aftertouch allow you to delve into the synth’s expressive capabilites.
Cosmos is available now via Mark Sound Design’s Gumroad store for €18.
Couloir Trance Soundset for Clavia Nord Lead 2, 2X, and TUS NodalRed2X by Kulshan Studios
Following on from the new Access Virus sounds that are also compatible with The Usual Suspects recreations of that synth and its siblings, Kulshan Studios have introduced a new set for the classic VA Nord Lead 2 and 2X that are also compatible with the TUS recreation.

The original Nord Lead was one of, if not the first, virtual analogue synths of the mid 90s and remains a firm favourite today in its updated forms, not least for its great sound but sturdy Scandinavian build and design.
This new Trance-oriented sound set features 74 presets, described by the developer as ‘uplifting’ and does not deviate from its Trance inspiration. No matter what flavour of Trance you prefer, and I’m told there are many, there will be something here for you.
Created by Dawnchaser, these presets do everything a Trance composer or producer would require of them, as the demo shows, and many of them take you right back to the classic trance era of the early 2000s.
Couloir Trance Soundset is available now for $28 from the Kulshan Studios website.
