The Neumann M 50 V is a reissue of the M 50 tube condenser microphone from the early 1950s, renowned for its use in classical recording.
The M 50 was first introduced in 1951, and due to its directivity and responsive character, became a standard in the recording of traditional instruments within orchestras and classical ensembles. In addition, this microphone became instrumental in the development of the Decca Tree stereo miking technique, which is still used today.

Since its heyday, the M 50 has been reissued in the form of the M 50 c, and although this latest iteration uses the same circuitry as its predecessor, the one notable improvement is the use of an ultra-low-noise subminiature tube. This makes recording with the M 50 V as prestigious as the original, and the lower noise floor results in a higher dynamic range.
In addition, the new M 50 V uses the K 33 Ti capsule with its lightweight titanium membrane for improved transient response compared to the previous reissues. With its classic pressure transducer design and fixed omnidirectional pickup pattern, the M 50 V is purpose-built for use in the best acoustic spaces.
Another modernized touch is the RF-proof connector implemented in the M 250 C, which protects the signal from the potential interference of Wi-Fi and phone networks. Furthermore, there’s a newly designed high-voltage power supply, which also offers compatibility with older versions of the M 50.
