For NAMM 2021, Fender gave fans of its American Ultra Series something to rave about. Among the new guitars added to the premium Fender range are a Luxe Stratocaster Floyd Rose HSS in a fetching Silverburst finish, as well as a Luxe Telecaster Floyd Rose HH in Mystic Black. Let’s check ’em out!

Fender American Ultra Luxe Stratocaster and Telecaster

Back in November 2019, Fender launched a new set of guitars and basses featuring several subtle changes under the Ultra series name. The range replaced the Elite series from 2016, and included updates to the neck, body contours and pickups. Now Fender has added several new “Luxe” Strats and Teles. And here they are.

American Ultra Luxe Stratocaster

This one comes in either a 2-Color Sunburst or a Plasma Red Burst finish with a painted headstock. They have the augmented D profile neck with the ultra rolled fingerboard edges and come loaded with 22 stainless steel medium jumbo frets. The fretboard come as either rosewood or maple with a modern 10”- 14” compound-radius, so they should play smoothly with no fretting out.

The sculpted ash body is a nice bonus, as it should look good under those finishes and you have a set of Fender’s Ultra Noiseless Vintage pickups.

American Ultra Luxe Stratocaster Floyd Rose HSS

If you need a bit more fire in your Strat, then these new American Ultra Luxe Stratocaster Floyd Rose HSS models have you covered. Essentially, these are the same specification as above just with an Original Floyd Rose Tremolo system and set of Fender’s Ultra Noiseless Hot single-coil pickups and Ultra Double Tap humbucking pickup in the bridge position.

Available in Silverburst and Mystic Black finishes.

American Ultra Luxe Telecaster

This is the new American Ultra Luxe Telecaster and comes in either a traditional 2-Color Sunburst or a Transparent Surf Green. Key features are a set of Ultra Noiseless  Vintage pickups. Elsewhere the specifications follow on from he two Stratocaster models above.

American Ultra Luxe Telecaster Floyd Rose HH

Available in Mystic Black the new American Ultra Luxe Telecaster Floyd Rose HH model is my favourite of the bunch and I think it looks great. The specifications are practically the same as the Floyd Rose Ultra Luxe Strat version above, but you have a pair of Fender’s Custom Double Tap humbucking pickups instead.

I’d happily rock one of these all day long!
