Musician and lifestyle artist Moby is now offering 500 songs for free (!) download on the mobygratis platform. The tracks can be downloaded for free as MP3s, WAVs and even multitrack stems. The music can be used as royalty-free music for your projects and can even be edited – of course there are some minor restrictions.
500 Moby Tracks Available for Free on mobygratis
Moby is extremely prolific and even lets us share in his output. On the mobygratis platform you can now download no less than 500 songs and tracks by the artist for free. And you don’t even have to sign up for a subscription, newsletter or register on the mobygratis.com website.
In a short video, Moby also explains the background of the whole campaign. The goal is to provide today’s content creators with free instrumentals that can be used without hassle. The musician has in mind people who make movies or music, students, influencers, choreographers, gamers, vocal acrobats, rappers, remixers and all other creative types.
All tracks are available for free download in MP3 and (uncompressed) WAV formats. Just click on the download icon to directly download the audio file without having to register. Moby also offers multitracks, so you can even access the individual tracks. Working on a new remix is no longer in the way!
The music deliberately avoids vocals in order not to lean too much in one direction. Moby probably also has movie projects in mind. In fact, the project started almost 20 years ago with the goal of providing background music for movies. According to the musician, over 10,000 film projects have been created using material from mobygratis over the past 20 years.
This is what you’ll like: You can sort the music on the website according to different categories and moods, and the playing time and tempo (in most cases) are also displayed next to the titles.
Completely Free of Royalties?
Are there any restrictions? Yes and no. Before starting to download you have to agree to two conditions: Political rights or opinions may not be promoted with mobygratis music, and meat, dairy and other animal products may not be promoted with mobygratis music.
Otherwise, according to the musician, pretty much anything goes. A look at the FAQs should provide additional clarity; at least some things have to be clarified in advance for commercial use.
However, the information gives the impression that everything can be arranged quite easily upon request. And in the video, Moby makes it clear that everything should work as “easy” as possible.
If you have no commercial intentions, the platform seems to offer enough material for your own projects. And even more music will land on the platform soon! That is nice.

A lot of people hate on the guy but that’s really a great move (and I really don’t care about his music).
