IK Multimedia ToneX Bass Pedals: Ampeg, Bassmann, And Much More!
If you own a ToneX pedal already, there is a software upgrade as well!
IK Multimedia expands its successful ToneX series! Following various special editions and improved Modeler software, the company today releases ToneX Bass and ToneX One Bass. With these bass amp pedals, presets and sounds have been optimized for electric bass!
IK Multimedia ToneX Bass Editions: The Big and The One
With ToneX Bass and ToneX One Bass, IK Multimedia is explicitly targeting bassists. The larger version (with the same pedal layout as previous ToneX pedals) includes a whopping 150 presets and tone models specifically for bass sounds. Particular attention was paid to ensuring that the results are “mix-ready.”

In other words, connect your bass, start playing, and sound great in seconds: that’s the goal. The 150 presets are distributed across 50 preset banks, each with three sound options (usually Clean, Smooth, and Drive). In addition, you can use up to 15 effects in each preset via the ToneX Editor software. Looking at the preset list (PDF), IKM has thought of just about everything with ToneX Bass.

Tone models from Fender Bassmann, Amped SVT, preamps from Darkglass and Tech21, and several amps from Aguilar, Markbass, and Gallien-Krueger are included. This covers a wide range of bass sounds.
Optimized Phase Correlation and IRs
In terms of setup, ToneX Bass is very similar to the guitar version. One new feature is the optimized phase correlation of the dry/wet signal. IKM focused on that for the bass pedals, because phase cancellations in bass instruments often have more serious acoustic effects than in guitars.

This optimization ensures that the mix between the direct (DI) signal and the virtual amp signal remains particularly powerful and in phase. In addition to 50 amp models and 15 effects, ToneX Bass, like its guitar counterpart, includes IKM’s VIR multi-IR cabinets with multiple microphone positions. A tuner and an IR loader for your impulse responses are also integrated.

On the hardware side, much of it remains the same: AD conversion with 24 bits and 192 kHz, 5 Hz to 24 kHz frequency range, 123 dB signal-to-noise ratio, MIDI in and out. The pedal also features a monochrome display, eight controls (including a three-band EQ), three footswitches, and a USB port. At Thomann*, the pedal costs $461.00 / £417.00 / 469,00€.

ToneX One Bass: Compact All-in-One Bass Amp Solution!
Of course, in addition to ToneX Bass, there is also a bass version of the successful ToneX One. It comes with 20 tone models and the familiar minimalist controls via one large and three mini knobs. As with the guitar version, preset editing is primarily done using the ToneX Editor.

If you already own a pedal from the ToneX series and would like to use the new bass amp models as well, you don’t need a second pedal. IK Multimedia offers the ToneX Bass Signature Collection to anyone who already owns a ToneX pedal or only uses the software version in their DAW. This collection includes all 150 models and presets. You can get the ToneX One Bass at Thomann* for $215.00/ £189.00 / 219,00€.
