We check out the latest iteration of the Italian digitally controlled studio monitors, the impressive IK Multimedia iLoud Precision MKII.
When IK Multimedia first announced the Precision series in 2022, it was an unexpected move into slightly more high-end monitors. This can be tricky for manufacturers like this, who have built a reputation in the budget end of the market, but IK Multimedia has persevered and returned with an update of three new Precision models.

For starters, the speaker housings of the MKII versions of the Precision 5, Precision 6, and Precision MTM have been upgraded for improved accuracy and transient reproduction. This new development is particularly interesting for multichannel audio setups, because the upgrade in soundstage makes the Precision series better suited for immersive mixing environments.
Another exciting upgrade has taken place within the high-frequency drivers. Here, the redesigned ultra-lightweight tweeters use graphene reinforcement for increased rigidity. As a result, this improves the overall transparency, making the Precision series more trustworthy than ever, while reducing the distortion levels to an absolute minimum.
Meanwhile, IK Multimedia has also launched the ARC X correction system alongside this release. According to the manufacturer, the automatic calibration of the Precision series is more comprehensive than ever, offering “full acoustic correction”. With the ARC X system, there are new features like custom speaker options and virtual monitor profiles to suit your workflow.
What’s more, there are new speaker mounting accessories specially designed for the Precision MKII series. This makes the flexible digitally-controlled monitor series a worthy option for immersive mixing, with a system that is easy to install and calibrate.

Is that price for 1 unit or a pair ? Looking at Thoman it looks like a single unit making the price a little steeper that I would have thought.
The speakers are sold singly, rather than as a pair. I will leave it up to our readers, and the buying public to decide if that represents good value!
