The Hughes & Kettner Tube Rotosphere plugin brings the legendary sound of this popular classic to your computer. The manufacturer took its time because, with such a classic pedal from its own workshop, everything had to be perfect. Let’s see if they succeeded.

Hughes & Kettner Tube Rotosphere Plugin

In 1997, Hughes & Kettner introduced the Tube Rotosphere, a tube-equipped pedal that produced the authentic sound of a Leslie cabinet’s rotating speakers. To this date, it can be found on countless pedalboards belonging to guitarists and keyboardists. The pedal is no longer available and can only be found on the secondhand market at high prices. It makes sense, then, to dedicate a contemporary plugin to this success story.

It’s an Exact Replica of the Original

The developers put a lot of effort into creating the Tube Rotosphere plugin, resulting in an authentic digital replica of the original. The plugin captures the familiar rotary sound with tube coloration in an absolutely authentic way.

All of the pedal’s controls have been included. You’ll find separate controls for LF and HF rotor speed, as well as functions that can be adjusted in sync with the DAW tempo. The popular breaker function is also included. This function stops the rotor movement and controls the start-up and braking behavior.

The Tube Rotosphere plugin offers the same fine harmonic tube distortion based on the original’s sophisticated high-voltage circuitry. Additionally, there are two switchable modes for guitar and keyboard. Everything is also available in stereo to create a wide, spacious sound.

The plugin’s interface and controls are clear and easy to understand, with excellent real-time visualization. A manual seems unnecessary. Anyone familiar with the pedal will immediately know how to use it.
