Hughes & Kettner joins Thomann – The Spirit of Rock!
Hughes & Kettner Now Owned by Thomann
Today, the official news has broken that Hughes & Kettner are now part of Thomann, and the two German giants of guitar could be a match made in heaven.
Hughes & Kettner is now part of Thomann
The official statement below confirms the rumours this week that Hughes & Kettner is now part of Thomann, and it looks like we could see a strengthening of the much-loved German guitar amp manufacturer.
Treppendorf, May 13, 2025 – Thomann GmbH has acquired the Hughes & Kettner brand, including the name and products.
As of May 1st, the German dealer for musical instruments and equipment is the brand owner of Hughes & Kettner.
One of Thomann’s goals is to further develop the brand. Hughes & Kettner is a renowned German manufacturer of guitar amplifiers, known for its innovative technology and clear sound. Tube amplifiers such as the TriAmp and TubeMeister deliver impressive performance both live and in the studio.
What is Next?
It is far too early to make any wild guesses (but I know a man who wants to see the return of the Tube Rotosphere), and I own a couple of Hughes & Kettner amps, so I’m excited by the news.
Thomas Blug was one of the first people to drop a video about the news today, as he is a long-time partner with the German amp builders, so he was very concerned and passionate about the future of this great German amp maker.
Is Thomann a good fit?
Yes, Gearnews is associated with Thomann, but even without this connection, I am genuinely impressed that H&K has managed to stay owned by a German company. The company has made some amazing amps in the past, and with Thomann’s support, we could see a very bright future.
Plus, Thomann knows how to make affordable gear for musicians, as their Harley Benton brand has proved again and again.
Tube Amps with Tone!
And maybe, just maybe, they could reissue the Statesman Dual EL34, which I love and use every day, and was way ahead of its time on the original release.
