Founded in the early 1970s, Eventide is one of the earliest innovators in effects processing, repeatedly designing audio tools that became household items in professional studios throughout the industry.

The key to the processing algorithm of Temperance Lite is that it tunes the resonances of ambient spaces, which allows you to control the pitch of the reverb and match it perfectly to a particular note or detune it. With the main Temper knob, you can control how much the reverb is being tuned.

Around this control, you can select notes that can be exaggerated or decreased, so you can add expression to specific parts of a melody, giving it more character and depth. All you need to do is select the desired notes and turn the control clockwise to increase their tempering, while turning the control anticlockwise will decrease the processing for the chosen notes.

There are three basic reverb types to choose from, including Bright Room, Large Studio, and Synthetic Space, and in each case, you can make adjustments to the pre-delay time, size, decay time, mix, and global tuning. If you look closely at the visualizers, the tuned parts of the reverb signal are displayed in white.

This colour scheme also correlates with the frequency range slider below the reverb controls, where you can see the notes appear in the spectrum as resonant bands. Here, you can isolate and shape the range to suit a particular sound in your mix. Overall, Temperance Lite is a useful processor, especially for vocals, melodic elements, and pitched percussion.
