EHX Launch Bass Big Muff Pi 2: Time to get low down dirty
Dual Op-Amp Bass Fuzz
Electro-Harmonix has just revealed the Bass Big Muff Pi 2, which uses the same style circuit as the recent Big Muff 2 but is tuned for bass guitar.
Bass Big Muff Pi 2
The new Bass Big Muff Pi 2 is an EHX, making the most of the newly rediscovered ‘lost circuit’. blends the classic sound bassists love with a rare “Op-Amp” circuit that was almost forgotten.
Dual Op-Amp Bass Fuzz
This version was created alongside Josh Scott of JHS Pedals, bringing back a specific 1970s design with unique character. It’s built specifically for bass players who want a heavy, grit-filled fuzz sound without losing the deep, low-end punch of their instrument.
Bass Adds Blend
The bass version builds on the standard volume, sustain, and tone controls by adding a blend knob and a bass boost switch.
These extra features give you more control over your sound: the blend knob lets you mix your clean signal with the fuzz so you don’t lose definition, while the boost switch pushes the low frequencies even further. It retains the standard Volume, Sustain, Tone control set; these extras just make it easier to use with low-end signals.
It features a true-bypass footswitch with Latching/Momentary action and can run on a 9-volt battery (included) or a power supply.
OK Doomer
This could be just what you need for your ‘Doom band’ or your ‘Shoegaze Bass VI’ adventures. I think I would certainlyuse one of these on my Bass VI, as I tend to use bass cabinets and bass heads with it, so this Big Muff should handle that easily enough.
I can foresee a lot of Doomer flares flapping in the breeze with one of these behind them.
Price & Availability
The new EHX Bass Big Muff Pi 2 is available at Thomann for $117/£105/€119.
