Illements Drop The Bass: Punchy Synth Basses for Tech House & More
Are you always on the lookout for punchy synth bass sounds for Modern House, Tech House, and similar styles? Then you shouldn’t miss this offer from Illements. Drop The Bass is a ROMpler loaded with 100 ready-to-use bass sounds.
According to Illements, the sounds were multi-sampled from analog synths and then EQed, saturated, and compressed, so they’re ready to use in your mixes. Most of the sounds are clearly leaning toward the harder styles of house music, but you’ll also find some 303-like timbres, organ basses, and FM sounds.
Drop The Bass also includes an ADSR envelope, as well as built-in reverb and delay effects for quick tone shaping.
Drop The Bass is only available for free for a limited time. After the launch offer ends, the plugin will cost $49. We don’t know when that’ll be, so grab it while it lasts!

JST Extra Spice: Frequency-Dependent Saturation
Extra Spice by JST is derived from the developer’s popular JST Heat plugin, an analog-modeled multi-band saturator. The freebie doesn’t offer all the bells and whistles and is limited to just one of the 24 ‘Heat Modes’ of the full version. But the Extra Spice mode sounds particularly useful: according to JST, it’s based on a custom analog circuit featuring frequency-dependent saturation, which makes it perfect for spicing up flat-sounding mixes.
In addition to Heat and Spice controls for shaping the effect, Extra Spice offers a post-saturation Tone knob and a Mix control. You don’t get the full multi-band capability of the full version, but there’s a frequency slider that lets you target specific frequencies.
Extra Spice is available for macOS and Windows in VST3, AU, and AAX formats.
XRL Records SVE: Free Vocal Effects Plugin
SVE by XRL Records is a free multi-effects plugin for quick and easy vocal shaping. In addition to gain and pan controls, it offers stereo width adjustment and time shifting, which can create some interesting rhythmic effects. Moreover, SVE also has built-in reverb and delay effects, although these are simple one-knob affairs with no tweaking options besides the effect levels. Still, SVE makes short work of tasks that would normally require a handful of plugins.
SVE is a VST and VST3 plugin for Windows.
