Boutique guitar effects pedal brand Dirty Boy is officially launching a new chapter in its history, joining forces with Warm Audio to introduce the Jr Series. This new, more affordable range is kicking off with the Dirty Boy Jr Booster, Jr Fuzz and Jr Overdrive. Is it time to try some boutique tones on your pedalboard?

Dirty Boy
Originally founded by Alex Saraceno, who initially started designing pedals for his son, former Poison guitarist Blues Saraceno.
Dirty Boy quickly established a reputation among gear enthusiasts for crafting top-tier pedalboard candy. Over the decades, legendary players including John Frusciante, Neal Schon, Phil X, and Tom DeLonge have relied on these boutique handmade units.
However, with the original hand-built pedals commanding high prices, they remained out of reach for many everyday musicians.
Warm Audio & Dirty Boy
This new Junior Series line delivers compact reimaginings of three of the company’s popular stompboxes, bringing their high-end analogue tone to a much wider audience. If you ever wanted to try Dirty Boy pedals, it was hard to find a dealer for them.
Now that Warm Audio is on board, you should hopefully be able to get your hands on them at a much lower price point than the original hand-wired versions.
Danny Gomez, who now owns and runs the Dirty Boy brand, sees this collaboration as the ideal bridge to get those signature sounds onto more pedalboards without sacrificing quality. While Dirty Boy will continue to build its premium hand-crafted pedals in limited runs, the brand has stated it hopes these faithful Warm Audio recreations will allow a whole new generation of guitarists to experience their classic circuits.
Jr Series
The debut Jr Series features three distinct stompboxes tailored for tone shaping, gain, and amp emulation.
Leading the charge is the Dirty Boy Jr Booster, based on the original Ball Buster circuit. It supplies up to 10dB of pure analogue boost alongside dedicated Bass and Treble controls and a three-way frequency switch for precision tone sculpting.
Jr Fuzz
For fans of classic fuzz/gain, the Jr Fuzz rehouses the beloved Afro Fuzz into a player-friendly compact enclosure. Featuring straightforward controls for Fuzz and Level alongside a 6-way frequency switch, it captures the dynamic response of a premium vintage Fuzz Face that cleans up effortlessly with your guitar’s volume knob.
Jr Overdrive
Rounding out the lineup is the Jr Overdrive, which packs the company’s signature Preamp circuit, the very first design released under Gomez’s leadership. It comes with controls for Gain, Volume, Variac and Tone.
It acts more like an amp, so there is a preamp out and an emulated output as well. I wrote about the Dirty Boy Preamp, this circuit is based on, back in 2024, and it is the one which has caught my attention the most of the three.
Tube Amp Emulation
Driven by Tube Amp Emulation (T.A.E.) technology, it acts as a versatile all-analogue amp modeller in a box. It works as a standard overdrive, a standalone preamp, or a full direct solution, complete with an emulated output designed to run straight into direct inputs, interfaces, or full-range flat-response speakers.
Verdict
These could be a more affordable way to check out Dirty Boy pedals, and since Warm Audio has much wider distribution worldwide, more musicians can check them out.
I would say they are still fairly high-priced at full MSRP, and the pedal marketplace is currently saturated with preamps, boosts, overdrive and fuzz circuits. Will these comparatively lower price points be enough to tempt players into buying them?
They certainly cover the core basic guitar tones we all chase, and I like their voicings in the demo videos that I have heard. The Jr Overdrive is on my radar for pedals to check out in this new line, as it looks pretty flexible and sounds good.
