Cort Gold MC6 and Core MC: Affordable, High-Quality Acoustic Guitars
Compared to Martin or Taylor, Cort may fly somewhat under the radar when it comes to acoustic guitars. However, the quality and sound of the South Korean models Cort Gold MC6 (in two versions) and Cort Core-MC are an aggressive challenge, especially in the mid-range segment. Here you get a lot of sound for little money!
Cort Gold MC6: Natural and Light Burst
Cort’s Gold Series is positioned just below Cort’s high-end Masterpiece models in terms of quality. With less of a brand name and less “Made in the USA,” you can expect similar quality compared to the big names, but at a lower price.
In terms of tonewoods, both the Cort Gold MC6 NT and LB feature a Sitka spruce top, ovangkol back and sides, a walnut-reinforced mahogany neck, and a Makassar ebony fretboard. Its body comes in Cort’s “Modern concert” Shape, and its neck is connected to the body through a dovetail joint (in a comfort C profile).

Both models (Natural and Light Burst) also look amazing, thanks to Cort’s very stylish accents. There is abalone inlay on the rosette, the Cort logo is also emblazoned on the headstock in shimmering abalone, complemented by black binding. With 20 frets, a bone saddle, a 25.5″ scale, a Fishman preamp and piezo pickup in the bridge, the Cort Gold C6 models have a lot to offer!
The Fishman model, called “Flex Blend,” offers three controls for volume and tone, plus a color-illuminated tuner. Cort Gold MC6 NT* and Gold MC6 LB* are available for $990.00 / £879.00 / €999.00 each at Thomann, a gig bag is included, and both models are available now.
Cort Core-MC Ovangkol
In addition to the Cort Gold MC6 models, the manufacturer has unveiled a new acoustic guitar from its popular Core series: the Cort Core-MC Ovangkol. This model also comes in the “Modern Concert” body shape and a striking black-lacquered cedar top.

The back and sides of this model are also made of Ovangkol in addition to a spruce X-bracing. As with the Cort Gold MC6, this model’s neck is made of mahogany, while the fretboard is rosewood to color-match the finish. Cort has not added as many embellishments to this model; a simple white binding adorns the body and rosette, which complements the minimalist look.
The Core Core-MC Ovangkol is available now for $645.00 / £569.00 / €649.00 at Thomann* and includes a gig bag.
