Behringer Halos: Put a Rings on it!
Clone of Mutable Instruments Rings for Eurorack
Behringer Halos is a copy of Mutable Instruments Rings – the perfect complement to the Skies module released earlier this year?
Behringer Halos
Behringer keeps cloning its way through the Mutable Instruments catalog. Following the release of the Clouds clone Skies in June of this year, Behringer Halos is a replica of Rings – the physical modeling module that many users have been combining with Clouds ever since it came out. So if you bought Skies, you’re probably going to want Halos, as well.
Like the original, Behringer Halos is a digital physical modeling synthesizer with three resonator modes: Modal Resonator, Sympathetic Strings and Non-Linear/Dispersion Strings. The model emulates the tonal characteristics of strings, membranes, and tubes. You can use any signal to excite the resonators, e.g. an envelope, a trigger pulse, or noise. The module is “pseudo-polyphonic” with up to four voices, allowing for complex timbres.
The user interface and features of the 14 HP module are identical to Rings. Like the original, Behringer Halos offers two buttons for selecting the number of strings or structures (1, 2, or 4) and for selecting the synthesis model. The Frequency, Structure, Brightness, Damping, and Position controls are all CV-controllable and all CV inputs are equipped with attenuverters.
In addition to a trigger input called Strum, Behringer Halos offers V/Oct and audio inputs. The two audio outputs carry different signals depending on the selected mode (monophonic or polyphonic).
Price and availability
Behringer Halos is now available to order from Thomann* for $105 / £93 / €109.
