The Beetronics Seabee Lite is an analog chorus and is related to their Seabee Harmochorus. It has a bucket brigade design at its heart, with digital control and three modulation modes.

Analog Chorus, Digital Control

Beetronics has just released the new Seabee Lite, offering users a classic chorus and vibe effect in one pedal. With three analog modulation modes, plus filter shaping, and those Chorus or Vibee settings, there is a lot to play with.

Chorus is a 50/50 blend of dry and wet signals, whereas Vibee is 100% wet with more pronounced filtering. The three main controls are Feedback, Rate, and Depth, so the pedal’s core is simple to dial in; the digital control allows for even more control.

Two footswitches include Bypass and Tap Tempo (which can also be controlled via an external expression input). If you hold down Tap Tempo, the modulation rate will temporarily speed up.

Modulation Modes

The three distinct modulation modes include Classic, Flangee, and Wobblee. These are accessed by a three-way toggle switch in the centre of the pedal.

Classic mode offers a standard wide Triangle LFO with a 10ms delay time, Flangee has what they describe as a unique LFO shape with 5ms delay time and is more akin to a flanger, and finally, the Wobblee setting is described as having an irregular LFO with a 25ms delay time, this one is more like an unstable tape modulation in character.

A useful three-way filter switch adds Flat, Band Pass, and High Pass filtering. A Band Pass (BP) is a narrow, focused filter, and a High Pass (HP) is used to attenuate higher frequencies, allowing the low-end to sound focused and clear. Finally, Flat applies zero filtering to the wet signal.

Having these filters makes this pedal very flexible and should allow users to dial in the modulation effects to taste. It also features selectable input levels. Making it perfect for use with bass, keys, synths, and not just the guitar.

Stereo Out & MIDI

The design features a stereo out with a mono in, allowing users to choose between two stereo output options. With either Dry/Wet or a phase-inverted as options. It also has 16 onboard presets, plus MIDI and expression control. This makes for a very flexible, compact, and versatile modulation pedal.

Putting digital control into an analog BBD circuit allows for a far more flexible modulation pedal, and the Seabee Lite certainly packs in the features.

Pricing & Availability

The new Beetronics Seabee Lite is available in Pink and Cream finishes, and you can order it from Thomann for $256/£229/€259.
