Absynth Ocean Collective for Absynth 5 and 6 by Ocean Swift
It truly MUST be Xmas as Native Instruments brought back Absynth from the dusty plugin cupboard of history yesterday with the release of Absynth 6! There was a collective uproar followed by the five stages of grief when NI pulled the plug on Absynth back in September of 2022.

But in a rare turn around, they’ve decided to bring it back, in full collaboration with its original creator, Brian Clevinger. Such events are few and far between, these days, but killing off one of their most beloved instruments was always a very odd decision.
Anyway, it’s back, it’s brilliant and as if to coincide with this momentous event, Ocean Swift have dropped the price of their Absynth Ocean Collective to just €9.99! This huge collection of Absynth sounds originated on Absynth 5.
But as you probably already know, Absynth 6 comes with sounds from all previous versions, and user presets created with versions 4 and 5 can import those directly into version 6! So this pack is fully compatible with Absynth 6.

Made up of seven sound banks, Ocean Collective contains a total of 785 presets, including both instrument (481) and effects (384) presets. It’s a massive collection, and at this price, it’s surely a must-have purchase. If you’re hosting these sounds within Maschine or Komplete Kontrol, then you’ll be delighted to know that full NKS support comes as standard.

Free Arturia Analog Lab V and Pigments 6 Presets by Larry Poulton
We all love freebies, especially freebies that aren’t used as marketing ploys to lure us into a company’s wider eco-system. I particularly like freebies that come from the community too, like these collections, created by Arturia user, Larry Poulton.
I found these banks via Larry’s posts over at Arturia’s Sound Explorers forums. He very generously shared these banks and they’re bloomin’ good ones too! They are primarily for users of Arturia’s Analog lab software, making use of the amazing collection of synthesis engines contained therein.

There are three volumes for Analog Lab covering cinematic, atmospheric and soundscape styles respectively and making use of many of the V Collection instruments contained in Analog Lab. There are then three collections for specific V Collection instruments.
Pigments 6 gets a 64 preset pack. The SQ-80 instrument gets a 48 preset pack described as novel and experimental and the final pack is for the Prophet VS which explores its wide range of tonal capability. You can download all of these packs for free, but please do click one of the donate buttons and send Larry a few bucks by way of thanks!
Alchemy of Glacial Rhythms for Xfer Serum 2 by Skendi
We may have had to wait over 3 years for Native Instruments to change their mind and update Absynth, but users of Serum had to wait 11 years to get Serum 2! But when it arrived back in March of this year, the musical world rejoiced!

Serum 2 was bigger, better, bolder and stronger than before, and those 11 years, all of a sudden, seemed completely worth it. And Skendi’s Alchemy of Glacial Rhythms make the most of Serum 2’s new features and power.
The bank contains 50 new presets, 10 each of arps, basses, pads, textures and synth sounds. The concept behind this collection was rhythmic, atmospheric and distinctly cold tones, inspired by the long, dark winter nights of the North, this time of year.
The wavetable, FM, granular and spectral engines all get a good workout, making use of the filters and FX to generate sounds suitable for a wide range of genres. Macros will make subtle but noticeable changes, whether you tweak them manually or via automation.
Grab this bank now for just $19.95 from the Anton Anru store. Be aware that this bank is for Serum 2 only.
Symphonica for KORG wavestate by OttO K. Schwarz
OttO K. Schwarz keeps popping up in this column, but then if you continue to build out quality soundbanks, then I guess inclusion here is a given! This time, they’re back with a new bank for the KORG wavestate family of synths.

They claim this bank to be “a revolutionary collection of high-quality performances that transform the complex world of orchestral sequencing into an intuitive, performable instrument”. A bold claim but if the demo is anything to go by, it’s a claim with some substance.
At the heart of Symphonica are the orchestrator sequences that use wave sequencing alongside the arpeggiator and dynamic modulation. Using the mod wheel and the joystick, you can customise the sound and performance in real time.
Arps, one-finger sequences, chords, pads and multis deliver a soundbank that will be appreciated by those of you who write for film, game and TV, working brilliantly as a sketch book for your next score. The bank contains 40 sample-based performances with a sample bank of over 1GB.
You can buy this bank for just €20 from OttO’s LFO.store.
