The sE Electronics V8 is a new handheld dynamic mic for live vocal performance with a next-generation capsule that keeps vocals in the spotlight.
It’s been exactly 10 years since sE Electronics launched its first handheld dynamic, the V7, which has now become an industry staple for touring artists. The V8 builds on this solid foundation, with the newly designed DMCV8 capsule created to make vocals the main event in the mix without requiring too much EQ.

The new V8 range includes two all-metal handheld designs with matte black and graphite grey options, as well as wireless capsules for Sennheiser and Shure transmitters. The sound profile is distinctively polished with a crisply detailed high-frequency range, controlled mids, and a well-rounded low-end that brings vocals to life while remaining true to the performer’s natural tone.
With a supercardioid pickup pattern, the V8 can capture and isolate the vocal range with ample gain before risking feedback, even in noisy stage environments. Also, within the spring-steel mesh grille is an integrated shock mount to negate handling noise, while the gold-plated XLR port ensures reliable signal transmission at every venue.
Regardless of the stage configuration or the style of music, the V8 keeps the vocals at the front of the mix with natural clarity. The V8 has been carefully built to last from one tour to the next, and the beveled ring around the grille prevents the mic from rolling when placed on a flat surface, which shows an impressive level of detail.
Included with the V8 is a soft protective case, as well as a mic clip with thread adapter, internal windscreen, and microfiber polishing cloth. Overall, the V8 should be an impressive addition to the sE lineup, especially considering that the V7 is already a trusted industry veteran loved by so many front-of-house engineers and artists.
