Focusrite Scarlett 4th Gen: Auto Gain, Clip Safe, and Air from 2i2 to 18i20

The fourth generation of the Focusrite Scarlett brings three changes you’ll notice right away in your studio workflow. Auto Gain sets your level fully automatically after ten seconds of singing or playing. Clip Safe checks the input signal up to 96,000 times per second and pulls the level down on its own as soon as clipping looms. The reworked Air mode comes in two flavors, Air Presence and Air Presence plus Harmonic Drive, and recreates the character of Focusrite’s classic, legendary ISA circuit. The preamps deliver up to 69 dB of gain, the converters come from the RedNet series, and the Focusrite Control 2 software runs the whole show.

More Information

The 2i2 offers two mic preamps, two Hi-Z inputs for guitar and bass, and USB-C. The Studio version adds a CM25 MkIII condenser microphone, SH-450 headphones, a 3-meter XLR cable, and a software bundle with Ableton Live Lite, Cubase LE, and the Hitmaker Expansion. The 16i16 pairs two mic/line/instrument inputs with four extra line inputs, ADAT, S/PDIF, and MIDI, while the 18i16 doubles the mic inputs to four. Topping the range, the 18i20 sits in a 19-inch rack case with eight preamps, two headphone outputs, a talkback mic, and speaker switching.

Vocals and guitar? The 2i2 has you covered, and the Studio bundle saves you from buying a mic, headphones, and cables on top. If you record synths, grooveboxes, and keyboards at the same time, go for the 16i16 or 18i16 instead: the extra line inputs take your gear directly, and ADAT lets you add more preamps down the road. The 18i16 also has a neat trick up its sleeve. Once you’ve set it up in Focusrite Control 2 and unplugged it from your computer, it keeps running in standalone mode, for example as a mic preamp for another ADAT interface. Nice!

You can grab the Scarlett 2i2 4th Gen*, Scarlett 2i2 Studio 4th Gen*, Scarlett 16i16 4th Gen*, Scarlett 18i16 4th Gen*, and Scarlett 18i20 4th Gen* at Thomann with up to 23% off the list price. The deal runs until October 7, 2026.

Novation Launchpad Mini MK3 and Pro MK3: Launch Clips or Build Entire Songs

Do you need a pad controller that runs Ableton Live, or one that lets you build songs without a computer? The answer decides whether the Novation Launchpad Mini MK3 or the Launchpad Pro MK3 fits you better. The Mini is the smallest and cheapest member of the Launchpad family: 64 RGB pads on a 180 by 180 millimeter (about 7 by 7 inches) body, 380 grams (about 13.4 ounces), USB powered. In Session mode, it mirrors Ableton Live’s clip grid one to one, and the pads light up in your clip colors. The Pro MK3 goes bigger, with larger pads that respond to velocity and pressure.

Inside the Pro MK3 sits a four-track sequencer with 32 steps and eight-note polyphony per track, plus pattern chaining, scenes, and Probability and Mutation functions. MIDI In, Out 1, and Out 2/Thru let you drive hardware synths without a computer. Eight Custom Modes can be assigned with Novation’s Components software, while the Mini stores three. Both come with Ableton Live Lite, and the Pro MK3 adds plugins from AAS, XLN Audio, Klevgrand, and Softube.

More Information

The Mini fits in any laptop bag and configures itself in Ableton Live, which makes it perfect for launching clips on the go. Own synths or drum machines with a MIDI input? Then the Pro MK3 becomes the control center for your studio: program patterns on the pads, send them to your hardware via MIDI, and sprinkle in variations with Probability during a live set. The MIDI ports are 3.5 mm minijacks, so you’ll need adapters for classic DIN cables.

The Novation Launchpad Mini MK3* and the Novation Launchpad Pro MK3* are now available at Thomann with up to 17% off. The deal runs until October 7, 2026.

ADAM Audio T8V and A4V: Studio Monitors with Ribbon Tweeters in Two Sizes

Different room sizes call for different monitors, and that’s exactly where the T8V and A4V come in. Both come from Berlin-based ADAM Audio. The T8V is the biggest monitor in the T Series: an 8-inch woofer, a 1.9-inch U-ART ribbon tweeter, 70 watts for the woofer, and 20 watts for the tweeter. The frequency response runs from 33 Hz to 25 kHz at minus 6 dB, and the maximum level hits at least 118 dB per pair.

The A4V targets smaller rooms: a 4-inch woofer made from multi-layer mineral, a rotatable X-ART tweeter with HPS waveguide, 110 watts for the woofer, and 20 watts for the tweeter. The frequency response spans 52 Hz to 45 kHz at minus 6 dB. A four-band hardware EQ with Bass, Desk, Presence, and Treble, plus the UNR and Pure voicings, adapts the sound to your room. You can remote-control the DSP functions over Ethernet, and Sonarworks integration is possible too.

More Information

In the Studio: Thanks to the rotatable tweeter, you can run the A4V on its side. Plenty of users praise its punchy, clean bass, though you shouldn’t expect more low end than a 4-inch woofer can deliver. If you produce electronic music with a lot of sub bass, the T8V is the better pick: ADAM explicitly recommends it for bass-heavy productions, and its shelving filters with plus/minus 2 dB take the edge off room problems. Both monitors are sold individually, so you’ll need two for a stereo pair.

The ADAM Audio T8V* costs 220 Euro apiece at Thomann instead of 279 Euro (21% off), and the ADAM Audio A4V* comes in at 388 Euro instead of 459 Euro (15% off). Both deals run until October 7, 2026.
