ST-Modern HH Deluxe
Harley Benton consistently manages to incorporate surprisingly good components into their model lines, and the ST-Modern HH Deluxe is another prime example. When you look at everything this guitar offers, you really have to wonder how they manage it at this price point. It is super affordable and comes in some stunning finishes!
The foundation of the instrument relies on an American alder body paired with a Canadian roasted maple neck, which features a laurel fingerboard and a compound radius. To noticeably improve playing comfort and facilitate effortless access to the higher frets, it comes with a tapered heel design alongside a sculpted rear body contour.
This ergonomic design is enhanced by the compound radius itself, which adapts perfectly to the natural position of your hand by remaining tighter in the lower frets for comfortable chord playing and flatter in the higher frets for clean bending without string buzz.
Finally, the inclusion of 22 premium silver nickel jumbo frets completes this truly deluxe package. There is certainly a lot to like with these new HH models, so let’s take a look at the hardware and pickups next
Pickups & Hardware
Harley Benton didn’t skimp on the pickups either. The ST-Modern HH Deluxe comes loaded with two Isola Hydrazine Alnico 5 humbuckers at the neck and bridge.
The real magic here is the push/pull tone control, which lets you split the coils to instantly switch from thick humbucker tones to bright single-coil sounds. Combined with a 3-way switch and dedicated volume and tone knobs, you get a highly versatile, user-friendly setup.
I already love a hardtail guitar with twin humbuckers, so this setup wins for me personally.
The hardtail string-through-body bridge gives you maximum sustain and resonance. Because there is no tremolo system, the strings make direct contact with the body for a punchier, more stable sound.
To top it all off, the matte black hardware looks incredibly sharp. Depending on which finish you choose, it perfectly matches either the sleek, one-piece black pickguard or the classic 3-ply tortoise shell pickguard.
