Following the head-turning Geddy Lee Minimoog Model D released just over a year ago, here comes another limited-edition reissue of the most famous synthesizer of all time. Assuming money is no object, you now have a choice: Do you prefer the standard model, the bright red Geddy Lee version, or the elegant Bob Moog Tribute Edition Minimoog Model D?
The Tribute Edition Minimoog is technically identical to the standard model, featuring the classic architecture with three voltage-controlled oscillators, the famous ladder filter, and two envelope (contour) generators. When they designed the reissue, Moog improved upon the functionality of the vintage Minimoog by adding a dedicated LFO and MIDI. The mixer feedback function—a popular modification on the original—is also hard-wired. The Bob Moog Tribute Edition Minimoog Model D features a 44-key keybed manufactured by Fatar and equipped with velocity and aftertouch, which are patchable via jacks on the rear panel.
Dedicated to the legendary synth pioneer, the Bob Moog Tribute Edition Minimoog Model D is housed in a sleek-looking oakwood cabinet, which gives it a truly beautiful “vintage” look. Limited to 500 units, this special edition is handcrafted at Moog Music’s headquarters in Asheville, North Carolina, USA. A matching Minimoog Model D SR Series soft case is included. For each unit sold, Moog Music has pledged to donate $500 to the Bob Moog Foundation, so you’re actually supporting a good cause when you purchase this timeless synthesizer.
