Endorphin.es Evil Pet Goes Against the Grain
Granular Effects Processor and Synth with MPE and FM Radio
Just in time for Halloween, Endorphin.es is unleashing Evil Pet! A cross between a stereo granular effects processor, synth, FM radio, recorder, and sampler, this deceiving creature is a creative playground for sonic experimentation.
Endorphin.es Evil Pet
According to Endorphin.es, Evil Pet is a “creative box” for anyone with “enough fantasy and imagination”. Sounds intriguing! In its pink housing, it doesn’t actually look that dangerous at all. But don’t be mistaken: this Evil Pet will tear apart your audio signals when you’re not looking!
Evil Pet is a granular effect and synthesizer that can process and mangle sounds from various sources and transform them into unique soundscapes and textures. Endorphin.es says that it works with any input signal from guitar and voice to synths or even drums. There’s also a microphone for turning ambient noise into something new and interesting. Instead of a live input signal, you can also load samples via a microSD card or use the built-in FM radio as a live sound source for creative experimentation.
The sound is then broken down into tiny grains and reassembled into new textures. I love the real-time visualization of the grains on the OLED display! Grains can be stretched, shrunk, or flipped to create new sounds and effects from any input signal. For sound shaping, Evil Grain offers an envelope, a filter, and an LFO, as well as a shimmer reverb for spaced-out soundscapes.
You can trigger grains manually using the Play key, or connect a MIDI keyboard to play Evil Pet polyphonically with up to eight voices. It’s even MPE compatible, offering an extra layer of creative expression.

On the back of the box, you’ll find stereo inputs and outputs, an expression input that also serves as an input for the included antenna, and MIDI In/Out. There’s also a stereo headphone jack.
Price and availability
Endorphin.es Evil Pet is now available to order from Thomann* for $468 / £428 / €479. It’s expected to be in stock within about a week.
