Rodec Sherman Ministyler Shrinks Down the Filterbank – But How Can You Use It?
Sherman filter drive, FM, modulation and resonance - oh man!

Love the Sherman Filterbank but think it’s too big? Check out the Ministyler, a collaboration between Sherman and analog maniacs Rodec.
Rodec Sherman Ministyler
The Sherman Filterbank is the stuff of legend. A force to be reckoned with from before most people started obsessing about hardware, it’s still available in a variety of formats. Following on from the company’s collaboration with analog gear legend Rodec, the Restyler, comes this new mini freak of a filter, the Ministyler.

The Ministyler is mini indeed. At only 75.85mm x 80.9mm, it packs a lot of power into a small size. But what size is this anyway? It may be 16HP high, but it’s not Eurorack format. Or even 500-series format. No, it’s Rodec’s own 100 series for use in Rodec gear. More on this later, but don’t worry, it’s much less formidable than you might expect.
Ministylin’
The filter circuit is the same as the one in the Filterbank and lets you morph smoothly between lowpass, bandpass and highpass modes, with switchable 12dB or 24dB slopes. And of course, the resonance self-oscillates just like you want it to.
The mini filter also lets you indepedently modulate both the cutoff frequency and resonance manually via the knobs, with CV or even the incoming audio itself. There’s also FM.
Stylin’ and Drivin’
Pride of place at the top of the module is the drive stage with up to +30dB of gain, makeup control and a dry/wet blend knob to “dial in everything from subtle warmth to full-blown analog destruction,” in the words of Rodec and Sherman.
The ONE
By now, you’re probably thinking that you’d like to get your hands on the Ministyler, but you don’t have a Rodec console like the intimidatingly expensive MX Modular Hybrid Performance. If you have a 500 series lunchbox or other housing, you can put the Ministyler in Rodec’s K7 Adapter. Or house it in ONE, a portable case for 100-series modules.

Price and Availability
Rodec and Sherman will be releasing Ministyler and ONE in summer 2025. Ministyler will cost €408.10, while ONE will be going for €271.82. There’s a special bundle price of ONE plus Ministyler for €635.46. Note that these prices do not include VAT. See the Rodec homepage for more information.

Ah, so it has a lot less features than the filterbank 2 compact, but will be almost as expensive. What’s not to like?
