Warwick Unleashes The Gnome i Pro 600 V2: Improved, Light-Weight Bass Amp
Warwick’s Gnome series has been growing ever more popular among traveling bassists. This small bass heads pack a lot of punch and features into a very compact and light-weight format. Now, the German bass specialist is presenting the Gnome i Pro 600 V2. It keeps what we’ve loved from the first iteration and adds what we hoped for.
Gnome i Pro 600 V2: Small Size, Big Sound!
Let’s recap: Version 1 offered a class d power amp with 600 watts at 4 ohms or 350 watts at 8 ohms at just 3 kilograms. It also included a four-band EQ with 15 decibel boosts or cuts for each band. And with a maximum input impedance of more than 10 MOhm, the Gnome i Pro 600 offered maximum sensitivity for passive pickups.

You also got inputs for an aux signal (minijack) and headphones on the front. In addition to the two Speakon outputs, the bass amp included an XLR direct output (post EQ) with a ground loop switch and an FX loop. That wasn’t it!

The bass amp also came with a USB port (type B). If you connected it to your computer, it functioned like an audio interface, no drivers needed! Everything seemed very thought-through and it came at a very affordable price. The Genome i Pro 600 V2 offers all of that. And it includes a couple of thoughtful additions.
What’s new in Version 2?
The Genome i Pro 600 V2’s first addition is a mute button on the front panel. This button can be a lifesaver when switching outputs or changing basses, especially for re-tuning between songs. Sure, tuner pedals mute the signal as well, but what if you forgot yours and are only using a clip-on tuner?

Then, Warwick has added a Pre/Post switch in the back for the direct output. This way, you can adapt your sound, whether you’re recording or going to FOH. The third addition, also on the back, is a small dimmer control for the bass head’s blue LEDs.

If you’re playing on a dimly-lit stage, say in a theater production, this can be extremely helpful because the usual workaround of covering the amp isn’t always the best solution, given how hot it gets over time.
How much does the Gnome i Pro 600 V2 from Warwick cost?
In a time when quite a few manufacturers raise their prices for the tiniest updates, this is a nice gesture. The Warwick Gnome i Pro 600 V2 costs just as much as its predecessor: 399 euros*!
