The Technics SL-1200M7G has seven different options to give your DJ setup its own unique identity that matches the direction of the music you play.
The SL-1200 turntable was first introduced in the early 1970s and was famously dubbed “The Middle Class Player System” by Technics. It featured a rugged metal die-cast chassis and the extremely durable and reliable direct-drive system that would turn this series of turntables into an institution. Today, to celebrate the 55th Anniversary of the legendary SL-1200, Technics has announced the SL-1200M7G.

Within the new SL-1200M7G range, there are seven different exclusive anniversary editions with individually engraved serial numbers to add to the value as a collector’s item. While a stylus and cartridge are not included, it does ship with a slipmat, a dust cover, a slip sheet, and a 7-inch record adapter, as well as a set of counterweights, a headshell, cartridge sets, and phono and grounding cables.
As you’d expect, all the anniversary editions feature the legendary Technics coreless direct-drive motor system, which provides precision and stability, while the heavyweight die-cast aluminum platter optimizes rotation. For precise tracking, the SL-1200M7G series uses the same professional-grade S-shaped tonearm with adjustable height from 0-6 mm.
You can also tweak the start and brake torque to your personal preference, just like the original MK7. Other standard features include ±8% / ±16% pitch range modes, reverse play, and 33 1/3, 45, and 78 RPM speed settings. Both the power and audio leads are detachable, which is ideal for long-term live use and transportation in flight cases.
Overall, the SL-1200M7G series offers new ways to immortalize the legendary 1200 series, with different colour trims that you can match to your home DJ setup, DJ streaming setup, dance venue, or listening bar. As standing out visually is so important these days when it comes to doing anything remotely music- related, perhaps these limited editions are worth the extra 200 bucks.
