The SSL 4K G Channel Strip brings the sound of one of the most sought-after mixing consoles to your DAW in one comprehensive plugin.
If you know anything about the history of SSL consoles, you’ll know that the G-Series is the one loved most for its punchy, but extremely musical sonic character. This made it a favourite among some of the greatest producers and engineers, including Spike Stent, Flood, Alan Moulder, Bob Rock, Dr Dre, and MixedByAli.

The 4K G has been developed with careful modelling of each part of the G-Series channel strip, including the characteristics of the Pink ‘292’ and Black ‘242’ EQ, as well as the aggressive but defined dynamics section. The EQ section provides four bands, with high and low shelving filters, and high and low midrange bell filters with variable Q-factor. In addition, there are high and low cut filters to set the frequency range you’re working in.
In the dynamics section, there is an external sidechain input, and the compressor section has a wet/dry mix control for parallel processing. This allows you to dial in severe compression settings for bite and then dial the mix back for a more subtle effect. The channel strip is also equipped with a width control to enhance the stereo, and there is a HQ mode for oversampling.
The way in which the mic amp, impedance control, and output VCA have been modelled allows you to achieve the same degree of saturation as the console. This means you can approach each mix according to the musical style and dial in more character when you need to, or take a cleaner, more modern approach.
The 4K G plugin also offers the flexibility of being able to flip the signal path. This means you can place the dynamics section before the EQ if you prefer, or use the filter section at the end of the chain. Overall, the 4K G is something SSL fans will love, with full 360 integration, and even more so if you have experience mixing on a console.
