With FASTER MASTER, Mastering the Mix presents a new plugin developed in close collaboration with music greats David Guetta and Nicky Romero. The goal was to create a tool that simplifies the complex process of mastering while retaining the sound character of modern club productions. At its heart is the analysis function, which automatically evaluates a track and creates smart presets based on it. These presets adapt to the mood and energy of a song, providing a targeted starting point for fine-tuning. This makes FASTER MASTER a tool that both experienced engineers and beginners can use to achieve professional results quickly.

One particularly exciting feature is the ability to import your own reference tracks and align the sound with them. Automatic loudness adjustment enables transparent comparison between the original and the mastering, allowing you to make every decision on a solid basis. FASTER MASTER analyses the relevant parameters of any genre, from EDM and pop to hip-hop, and gives you instant access to adjustments in areas such as EQ, transients, compression, stereo width, and limiting. All changes are corrected in real time in terms of loudness, enabling you to concentrate solely on the sound.
The plugin’s individual modules work together and offer intuitive controls that are deliberately kept to a minimum. The EQ uses precise filters to avoid phase problems, ensuring clarity and punch in the signal. In the transient module, these can be amplified or attenuated while maintaining natural loudness stability. The compressor reacts dynamically to the music genre and can use a sidechain filter to specifically exclude low frequencies, such as those from the kick drum and bass, from the control. Four frequency ranges are available for adjusting the stereo width independently to make it narrower or wider.
Mastering has Never been Easier!
The limiter is particularly important in mastering. Here, FASTER MASTER provides optimised settings that are directly tailored to the analysed song. You can set the maximum loudness, add extra drive or activate true peak limiting. Thanks to the lock function, once settings have been finalised, they can be fixed in individual modules. This means that when trying out new presets, only the desired areas are changed. Very useful! This enables you to maintain perfect stereo settings while further refining the EQ or compression.
The concept sounds very exciting and promising. I will definitely try out the plugin to see what it sounds like in the end. If the sound quality is good, FASTER MASTER could be a real game changer for many producers.
