CHEat code from BEATSURFING is not just another multi-effect plugin, but takes a radically different approach to creative sound processing. In addition to its really cool name, the tool seems to be an extremely interesting plugin for sound designers! I’m really looking forward to testing this mega-effect in my studio.

The CHEat code plugin was developed in close collaboration with Che Pope, which is reflected not only in its name, but also in its uncompromising focus on experimental sound design. CHEat code is not only an effects processor, but also a tool for spontaneous brainstorming and performative interventions directly in the DAW. This sounds very promising and definitely leaves you wanting more.
Particularly noteworthy is the flexible routing system, which is not limited to classic mixing between serial or parallel arrangement of effects. Instead, a stepless control (!) allows you to permanently balance between these two signal paths. Wow! This way of working leads to finely adjustable changes in the audio material, which can be subtle or extreme.

Combined with the Performance Widget, which provides temporary effects or touch-sensitive automations, you can create dynamic interventions that are especially useful in live sessions or improvised studio recordings.
The three-stage Morphing Macro provides additional creative control, making complex sound changes intuitive. This allows you to combine deep sound design with musical immediacy. And it seems to work really well.
The included modules range from classic modulations such as chorus, flanger and reverb to granular delay variants and rhythmic tools such as slicers and shufflers. The modular diversity of the delay section is particularly striking, with creative concepts such as fractal delay and the sequence delay engine that go far beyond conventional echo effects.

Pricing and Specifications
BEATSURFING CHEat Code is now available from the manufacturer’s website at an introductory price of €89.00 instead of €139.00. If you are a registered user and own other plugins from the developer, you can save even more – the tool costs me €55.00. The plugin runs on macOS 13 or higher (including Apple Silicon support) and Windows 10 or higher as AAX, VST, VST3 and AU. Several presets are included.
