Bad Cat Amplifiers Mod Shop unleash 50 Watt Tube Tone!

The Hot Cat 50 Mod Shop is Bac Cat Amplifiers’ modded version of the popular “Hot Cat” in time for NAMM 2026. More power and two channels of great tube tones!
Bad Cat Hot Cat 50 Mod Shop
The Bad Cat Hot Cat 50 Mod Shop is the latest version of Bad Cat‘s legendary Hot Cat series. For over 25 years, this amp has been a popular high-gain amplifier. With its redesigned 50-watt power amp, more flexible EQ, two switchable channels, and both low and high-gain modes.
It’s even more appealing now, as the Californian amp maker has given it a revamp ahead of NAMM. The preamp section uses four 12AX7 tubes, and the power amp section uses two EL34 tubes.
The amp offers rich clean sounds, aggressive crunch, and high-gain – all in one uncompromising amplifier. Simply put: The Hot Cat 50 is the most versatile amp in the Bad Cat series.
American and British
The amp is packed with features, including an effects loop, integrated reverb, a direct line output, and a convenient two-button footswitch. It integrates seamlessly with pedals and rack effects, making it suitable for any scenario.
The first channel delivers crystal-clear, American clean sounds as well as classic rock sounds with a British character. The second channel is reminiscent of a classic JCM 800 circuit with a nice crunch and corresponding aggression. If you want, this hot rod can also deliver first-class high-gain sounds.
I’m a big fan of Bad Cat amps, so this latest model really appeals to me, as it appears to offer some very useful tones across the two channels.
Combo and Head
You get the Hot Cat 50 Mod Shop as a combo with a 1 x 12″ Celestion Bad Cat Custom speaker and as a separate head. The Mod Shop edition is a further development of the already excellent base version. Essentially, the feedback from guitarists was gathered and incorporated into the Mod Shop design.
Price and availability
The Bad Cat Hot Cat 50 Mod Shop is an impressive amp with a wide range of sounds and leaves virtually nothing to be desired. Of course, this kind of fun comes at a price. At €2,299.00 for the head version, the amp isn’t cheap, but it’s an amp for life, built to last.
The amplifiers will soon be available here at Thomann.
