Now here’s a good idea. While your hands are busy tweaking knobs and suchlike use a footswitch to change modulation sources to an oscillator. The Trick’s Music Shop “The Sleight of Hand” CV signal footswitch does exactly that while being a complete mouthful to say.

The Sleight of Hand

It’s a great concept and a good name for it – it’s just a bit annoying to say. But don’t get distracted. The Sleight of Hand is a little hands-free tool to let you switch a CV signal between two sources as a quick expression change mid-performance. It’s available in three flavours: a three-channel Buchla banana plug version; a three-channel Eurorack version and a two-channel 1/4″ version for Moog modular.

On the stomp of the footswitch up to three CV signals switch the A and B inputs to their correlating outputs. Or you can reverse it to switch between outputs from a single CV source. You could switch between LFOs going to a filter cutoff, or envelope types going to a VCA. Or you could switch an LFO between two destinations. It’s a simple, passive switch that could bring a lot of helpful and dramatic change to a modular performance that’s manually triggered and repeatable. I mean it could switch between sequencers or patterns being routed to an oscillator. The possibilities are endless.

They look like they are built to survive the stomping of synth nerd without too much trouble. The banana and Eurorack version cost $87 whereas the 2 channel Moog jack is $75. That’s a pretty decent price. You might need some long patch cables though.

Available now direct from Trick’s Magic Shop and it appears to be their first and only products. I wonder what else they may bring to the party?
