Is bigger better? When it comes to synthesizers, there are all kinds available. Small and affordable, and of course big and beautiful. And then there’s monster-big, like this new instrument from Tom Horn of Poland. Called SinTH2, it’s a luxuriously large digital polysynth with plenty of real estate to let your fingers stretch out and explore.
Sampling Synthesis
SinTH2 was apparently inspired by the golden age of sample synthesis, with Tom name-checking the Roland JD-800 in the introductory video (below – set the subtitles to automatic translation if you don’t understand Polish). With that in mind, he’s endowed his new synth with five sample-based oscillators spread out over three oscillator blocks, with two capable of playing dual samplers and the third a single affair.
The instrument can also handle not only single-layer samples but also multisampling like Kontakt or Serum 2. Pretty Cool. And it comes loaded with 3GB of waveforms to play with.
More Synthesis
Here’s some more about the new synth. All digital, it has 60 voices of polyphony (does that mean multi-timbrality too?), a noise oscillator, and an 18dB/Octave multimode filter with lowpass, bandpass, and highpass types.
In terms of modulation, SinTH2 delivers four LFO generators and two envelopes. There’s no word of a modulation matrix but I wouldn’t be surprised if there was one.
Other functionality includes a 16-step polyphonic sequencer and motion recording for all knobs. There’s also a selection of stereo digital effects plus a stereo audio input to process external gear through them.
The instrument will also include a whopping 1920 preset slots.
So Much Hardware
SinTH2 is, as I’ve alluded to, impressively large, with 120 potentiometers, nine encoders, 36 clicky buttons, and a total of four OLED displays. Tom says in the video he likes machines with lots of hands-on control and wanted to bring that philosophy to his creation.
It comes housed in a solid wood casing and the keyboard versions sport Fatar dynamic keyboards.
So yeah, there are versions. SinTH2 is available in three formats: one with a folding panel (as in the pictures), one with a fixed panel, and a desktop model.

SinTH2 is handmade by Tom and his team in Poland. He’s promising delivery two to three weeks after you order. Custom orders are also possible.
