The new Powercab CL models from Line 6 are available in two powered formats, 1×12 and 2×12. Each one is designed to add the tone of a speaker, so they aren’t FRFR cabs. Instead, they come with some distinct speaker voice overtones to emulate using real guitar cabinets.

Guitar Cab Tone

Line 6 aims to emulate a real guitar cab, and so these latest models are not FRFR; instead, they are using the tonal characteristics of traditional guitar speaker cabs and using this as a way of colouring the overall sound. They have been designed to work with modelers, so the new upcoming Helix Stadium has been used to demonstrate them.

Connectivity features include a balanced XLR output with ground lift, switchable IRs (six factory, six user), a MIDI input, and a USB port for firmware updates and IR management using the Powercab CL IR Loader app.

The 2 x 12 weighs in at 18.9 kg, and the 1 x 12 model is 14.5kg, so they aren’t cumbersome, which is great for players who need to gig and move their own gear.
