Deals of the Week: Behringer Pro-800
If you’re curious about trying a polyphonic analogue synth for the first time, the Behringer Pro-800 is a great entry point. Based on the Sequential Circuits Prophet 600, the Pro-800 offers a total of eight voices with two oscillators per voice, and the ability to select sawtooth, triangle, and pulse waveforms, and you can adjust the frequency and pulsewidth.
The Pro-800 is also equipped with the unique-sounding Poly Mod section that uses the filter envelope and Oscillator B as sources, and can be assigned to Oscillator A’s frequency and the Filter Cutoff as destinations, with the addition of the Unison Track function for changing the voice behaviour to create fat leads and bass sounds.
In addition, the LFO section has six different wave shapes that can control the oscillator frequency, pulsewidth, and filter cutoff. As it’s a desktop module, the Pro-800 will require a MIDI keyboard, but it does have a two-track polyphonic sequencer, an arpeggiator, and the case is also Eurorack compatible (80 HP) with inputs for Sync and Filter CV.
Deals of the Week: Adam Audio Studio Monitors
Looking to outfit your home studio with some decent monitoring? Well, here’s a great opportunity to save on selected studio monitors from Adam Audio. At the entry-level in the Adam range, the T Series provides a balance of quality sound that translates well onto other playback systems and affordability, with three sizes to choose from.
Currently, the 5-inch T5V is available at over 15% off, the 7-inch T7V has been reduced by over 20%, and the 8-inch T8V has a discount of nearly 15%. All models are equipped with the U-ART ribbon tweeter, acoustic EQ controls, and connections for balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) signals.
Also available with a discount of more than 5% is the A4V compact studio monitor. Compared to the T Series, the A Series offers more advanced DSP, with Sonarworks integration, EQ presets, and different voicing modes. In addition, the X-ART tweeter in the A Series is rotatable, so you can switch the monitor to a horizontal configuration if you prefer.
Deals of the Week: SSL 18
The SSL 18 is the renowned manufacturer’s flagship rackmount USB audio interface with a wide range of recording features and expandability options. The SSL 18 is a 26×28 interface with 32-bit 192 kHz recording, eight mic preamps, two headphone outputs, and a talkback feature with SSL’s Listen Mic Compressor (LMC).
In addition, there are a few useful signal routing options with DC-coupled outputs for CV signals, dedicated insert send and return channels, and a loopback feature with an assignable source. On the digital side, the SSL 18 has coaxial and optical S/PDIF I/O and ADAT I/O for up to eight channels at 96 kHz.
On the front panel, there is individual LED metering for the main mix and each of the preamp channels, and you can activate the phantom power or the 4K feature for that classic console sound. In addition, the headphone preamps have different impedance modes, so you can drive any pair of headphones at an optimum level.
Deals of the Week: ASM Hydrasynth Desktop
This week, ASM announced a price increase, so this could well be the last opportunity to get the Hydrasynth at a reduced price before the prices go up. Right now, there’s a chance to save over 10% on the Hydrasynth Desktop. The Hydrasynth is a single-layer eight-voice digital wavemorphing synth with polyphonic aftertouch.
The first two oscillators have wavemorphing capabilities with 219 single-cycle waveforms and a choice of eight selectable wavetables per oscillator, as well as the ability to build waveforms. Each patch allows two different wavetables, and the WaveScan feature morphs between them to create uniquely animated sound sources.
The third oscillator is fixed, almost like a sub-oscillator, and there is a versatile dual filter section, as well as extensive modulation capabilities with five DAHDSR envelopes and five LFOs. On this desktop version of the Hydrasynth, there are 24 pressure-sensitive pads, an arpeggiator, and delay and reverb effects.
