The FL Studio 2026 update brings in a selection of new features and improvements, with an upgraded FLEX plugin, automatic cloud backups and more.

Image-Line FL Studio is one of the most popular DAWs in the world of music production, particularly loved by beatmakers and electronic musicians in a wide range of musical sub-genres. We investigate some of the new features in its latest update, FL Studio 2025.
FL Studio 2026
One of the main attractions of the update is a redesign of the popular FLEX plugin, which was first introduced back in 2019. Now, in this new update, FLEX has a more advanced browser system that lets you filter through the library and preview sounds quickly and easily with genre-based categories.
With the new engine, current and upcoming FLEX packs are far more CPU-friendly, and there’s a new Core Series with eight sound packs, offering a total of over 200 presets, which is free for all FL Studio users. Meanwhile, the update also introduces an auto-backup system for your FL Studio projects.
This allows your work to be stored securely in an encrypted format on FL Cloud and updated every time you hit save. This allows you to recall your work quickly and easily on any machine, which is perfect for collaboration. This feature is available in the FL Cloud plans, which give you 500 MB of storage in Free, 5 GB in Plus, and 1 TB in the Pro tier.
For those who are still finding their way around FL Studio, the Gopher workflow assistant has also been upgraded. Now, Gopher can perform functions such as track organization, mixer routing, adjusting levels and plugin parameters, as well as creating content on the Piano Roll. In addition, it can guide you through various workflows by highlighting different parts of the interface, and it can even create VFX scripts.
Another new addition is Transmitter, a processor that divides audio into transient and sustain parts for separate routing and processing. This gives you greater control, as you can EQ and compress these components with different settings. However, this plugin is only available in the All Plugins Edition of FL Studio.

FL Studio 2025.2 Update
The Loop Starter, which is usually where the initial creative sparks fly in FL Studio, has been upgraded with a key selector and a range of new genre kits, including boom bap, reggaeton, phonk, and afrobeats. Meanwhile, the channel sampler now features per-channel loop points, which adds a new avenue to your sampling workflow.
For precise audio slicing, the updated Fruity Slicer 2 plugin has an intuitively redesigned interface and offers envelopes on every slice you create. What’s more, the 2025.2 Update adds Emphasis, an intuitive dynamics shaping tool with instant recovery mode for individual sounds, channel groups, and your master bus.
Finding the sounds you need is easier than ever, with the smart matching feature that filters through the sound library to find similar sounds to any sample or loop. Also, for simplified effects processing, the Patcherize function allows you to transform plugin chains into Patcher instances. This allows you to use Mixer Track FX stacks quickly to rebuild and duplicate your effects chains.
The update also includes a wide range of bug fixes, as well as small improvements to plugins like Kepler, Kepler Exo, and the Fruity Compressor. Overall, the 2025.2 Update is a welcome one, because the newly added features are accessible across every version of the popular DAW.

FL Studio 2025 adds new Customizations and Improvements
[10 July 2025] The free update, FL Studio 2025, offers a range of workflow enhancements and a useful AI assistant to help beginners find their way around.
The update introduces a feature called Loop Starter that provides genre-based templates for the Channel Rack as you launch FL Studio. This allows you to choose from a growing list of different music styles with curated one-shot samples preloaded in the sequencer tracks.
With this feature, you can dive into creating groove ideas instantly and easily replace sounds or export the sequence to the playlist when it’s time to move on. Loop Starter also uses the FL Cloud library with over a million sounds to choose from, so you have a huge source of inspiration without having to get additional sample packs or subscribe to other plans.
Another requested feature that has been added is Dynamic Mixer Tracks. The Mixer now allows up to 500 tracks, and you can customize it quickly by adding or removing individual tracks to streamline the workflow of your project. Also, for faster audio editing, Audio Clips now have controls to adjust pitch, stretch, and reverse.
Image-Line has also added an AI assistant called Gopher to help you navigate around any area of the DAW. This means you can get tips quickly without leaving your DAW, which is great for beginners. Meanwhile, in the All Plugins version of FL Studio, there is a new multi-stage mastering compressor called Emphasis that produces punchy, cohesive masters quickly.
FL Studio has always been about getting ideas down quickly. With Loop Starter and Gopher, we’re now introducing two new features designed to support the creative process – whatever your level. Image-Line releases the FL Studio 2024.2 Update
With the FL Studio 2024.2 Update, there are a few neat, creative, and workflow-orientated additions for producers, as well as cloud-based features.
Among the new features is a new real-time looper plug-in called Transporter, which brings a fluid way to build transitional effects or help you creatively with your arrangement process. Meanwhile, you can also hot-swap and audition sounds from the FL Cloud library in real time.
This allows you to access a wide range of sounds in the FL Cloud library, and you can put them to work immediately in your projects. In addition, there is a new low-latency monitoring feature, so you can record audio or MIDI without any lag. What’s more, the 2024.2 update allows FL Cloud Pro users to access over 4000 presets for FLEX.

FL Studio 2024.1 features CLAP, a Chord Generator, and a Lofi Synth
The latest version of Image-Line FL Studio is now called 2024.1, which now features the CLAP plug-in standard and a few new instruments.

The beta phase has been lengthy, but today you can download FL Studio 2024.1 from Image-Line. For current license holders, this is a free update, as per usual. Although the CLAP plug-in format is now supported, we can’t expect quite the same level of modulation features offered in Bitwig Studio.
This is disappointing, but it’s still a move in the right direction, as we never know when Steinberg could make sudden changes to the VST terms of use. Meanwhile, Image-Line has added the tasty new Kepler EXO softsynth to the ranks. This gives you a lo-fi sound engine based on classics like the Roland Juno and Jupiter synthesizers.
Furthermore, there’s a useful new Chord Progression Tool for generating new chord ideas or extending existing ones. Overall, it’s a nice new update, particularly for those looking to do Pop or Synthwave production.
FL Cloud boasts a sound library of royalty-free loops and one-shot samples, as well as exclusive artist-curated content from well-known users. Moreover, you now have access to AI-assisted mastering and digital distribution for your tracks.

FL is great!
Bought it almost 20 years ago and still getting free lifetime updates.
This a much more significant upgrade that just the features mentioned. Three which standout are:
CPU Enhancement – FL Studio now use Blend2D to for the user interface (faster graphics with lower CPU).
Low Lifter (Effect) – Low Lifter dynamically adds harmonics to bass frequencies, enhancing their presence and creating the perception of stronger bass, even on devices incapable of reproducing deep sub frequencies effectively. Included with Signature Bundle and higher.
Spreader (Effect) – Non-destructive stereo enhancer plugin (mono compatible). Included with Producer Edition and higher
