Leak: Novation Launch Control XL3 – New Controller for DAW and Hardware
Perfect for Anyone Looking to Combine DAW and Hardware
In the run-up to Superbooth 2025, as every year, rumors of numerous new products are flying around. One particularly exciting product that has now been revealed by a short leak from an online retailer is the Launch Control XL3 controller from Novation. Many producers have been waiting a long time for a new version of this controller that can be seamlessly integrated into hybrid setups. And the first images already hint at some exciting features!
Hybrid setup made easy: The new Launch Control XL3 from Novation
The first images released of the Launch Control XL3 show a classic layout with three rows of (presumably) eight endless encoders, supplemented by LEDs. Below these are eight faders and additional controls for functions such as solo, mute, arm and select. Transport buttons such as play and record are also visible, along with various other menu options that suggest extensive DAW integration. Just as we expected.
A look at the back of the Launch Control XL3 confirms Novation’s claim that the controller is designed to act as a link between the DAW and external hardware. As well as a USB port for connecting to a computer, there is the classic MIDI trio for In, Out and Thru. With this setup, you can not only control software instruments and plug-ins within your DAW, but also integrate external synthesizers, drum machines, or effects directly into your setup.
This makes the controller ideal for hybrid workflows that combine analog and digital devices. This is further enhanced by the ability to create individual mappings for hardware and software independently and combine them flexibly in a workflow.
Novation Focuses on MIDI, OLED and Custom Mappings
The technical details of the Launch Control XL3 provide further insight into its direction. A total of 24 rotary encoders, eight faders and 16 assignable buttons are integrated, complemented by an OLED display for instant visual feedback. This makes it not only a classic DAW controller, but also a versatile tool for live performances and complex studio setups.

Of particular interest is the ability to store up to 15 different custom modes, allowing you to quickly switch between different configurations for different devices or software environments. This could be a real bonus for musicians who switch between different setups.
Price and Availability
The Novation Launch Control XL3 is positioned as a flexible controller that offers classic features such as faders and encoders, while also meeting the modern demands of hybrid setups. The combination of hardware MIDI connectivity, deep DAW integration and extensive customizability makes it an exciting addition to many studios and live performers.
The official launch is expected to take place in the coming weeks before or during Superbooth 2025, but it’s already clear that Novation has created a well thought-out solution for a wide range of production and performance environments with the Launch Control XL3. Until then, we’ll have to wait patiently for further specifications and pricing details. As always, we’ll keep you posted.
