EvermixBox5 Lets You Easily Record and Livestream Your DJ Sets
Evermix is back with the EvermixBox5, a new hardware/mobile app combo device for recording and livestreaming DJ sessions. It’s affordable too.
EvermixBox5
There are many ways to record audio these days, from computer to phone to dedicated hardware device, but none of these is ideal for the working DJ. For one, you’re probably already using your computer to DJ. And second, the booth can be a dangerous place, prone to wild, drunken accidents. Only the strongest devices can survive an environment like a chaotic club booth! Meet EvermixBox5.

The latest device from company Evermix, EvermixBox5 is a DJ set recorder and livestreamer package that sits on a signal chain between your DJ mixer and phone, recording your set to an app and that also now supports livestreaming. Pretty cool.
The Hardware
The hardware portion of the device is a small and durable aluminum box that’s strong enough to survive the rigors of the booth. It connects via two included phono cables to the record out on the mixer, and then on to your iOS or Android phone thanks to the USB-C port.

The box captures audio at 16-bit, 44.1kHz or 48kHz WAV with a 30Hz to 20kHz frequency response. It also features auto level limiting to prevent distortion and clipping – an absolute necessity as no matter your original intention, you know that volume is going to creep ever higher throughout your set. You can also hook up an external microphone directly to the box thanks to phantom power.
The hardware draws its power from your phone. You can also charge your phone while recording.
The App
The other element is the mobile app. This lets you capture your sets on iOS and Android devices. You can then edit your set within the app and share your mix directly to sites like Mixcloud and SoundCloud.
New to version five is the ability to livestream while recording. EvermixBox5 supports connectivity to Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and most other leading streaming platforms.
Price and Availability
EvermixBox5 looks like an elegant and powerful solution for DJs looking to record and livestream their sets.
The device is now on presale for £149 through the Evermix site. Purchase includes the EvermixBox5 itself, cables and a case. Evermix plans to start shipping in June.

I thought that maybe this was also a solution for live sets, but 16bit // 48kHz is not enough resolution for that.
DJs mostly use sources that can adequately be captured with 16/44 , so that makes sense there
