Cinematica for Arturia PolyBrute/PolyBrute 12 by Nick Klimenko

“Here he goes again”, I hear you cry. “Banging on about how wonderful Arturia’s PolyBrute is”. Well, yes… I suppose I do, given that I have been blown away by it since it first debuted back in 2020! Wow, has it been that long?

Then in 2024, its bigger, better brother appeared, sporting ‘FullTouch’ keyboard expression, six more voices and an ingenious, fan-free cooling system! It remains, to this day, a true statement piece from a company that was initially making software plugins!

So it is lovely to see people still making evocative and captivating sounds for it, including this pack from Nick Klimenko, released via the LFO.store. Entitled ‘Cinematica’, there’s no escaping this pack’s intended audience and use-case scenario!

More Information

Making great use of the PolyBrute’s synthesis engine, with its Brute oscillators, ladder and Steiner filters and brilliant effects section, Cinematica is a pack that is well suited to scoring your widescreen visuals, but can also hold its own in numerous other genres and styles.

Pads, leads, basses, sequences and plenty of built-in expressive action via the PolyBrute’s ‘Morphée’ and ribbon controller make Cinematica a versatile set of sounds that also work incredibly well with the PolyBrute 12, and although not specifically designed to work with its FullTouch capabilities, the moment you turn that feature on, you’re already noticing how much more expressive Cinematica’s sounds become.

Seqform for Moog Messenger by Alin Dimitriu

We last featured Alin’s work back in July last year when he released his first bank of sounds, Koreform, for Moog’s first synth, created and built under its new inMusic ownership, the Messenger, which had not long been released. And now we have the follow-up, Seqform.

Where Koreform focused on bass and lead sounds, Seqform, as its name suggests, is a collection of 48 sounds with a dedicated sequence attached to them. Alin is keen to point out that the sounds are perfectly usable in their unsequenced form, though!

For your money, you get 24 bassline sequences and 24 melodic sequences, each with their own dedicated sequencer pattern. However, you might also be interested in the ‘Advanced Pack’ version for a few more of your hard earned Pounds/Euros/Dollars.

More Information

In this pack, you get all 48 patches and sequences plus 168 audio loops featuring the sounds of Seqform, delivered in various forms, including with and without effects. All loops are recorded at 24/48 and are tempo and key labelled. You also get 48 MIDI sequence files!

You can pick up Seqform direct from Alin’s page, in both formats, with 30% off as a limited introductory offer, for $34.99 and $39.99, respectively. You can also grab Seqform and its predecessor, Koreform, as a bundle with a substantial discount!

Genome Patterns for Arturia Buchla Easel V by skendi

I’ve never truly grasped the Buchla Easel, nor the sounds that emanate from it, but I greatly admire those who have persevered and learned its eccentric ways and can make them sound pretty unique and intriguing. I even know someone who has one and frequently sits on a local park bench, noodling for the entertainment of passers by and the local ducks!

So when Arturia brought out their software recreation way back in 2017, as part of V Collection 6, I felt that maybe this was the universe’s way of telling me to get a grip and dive in. I tried… I really did, but i still didn’t gel with it, so I resorted to using the presets, which was enough for me!

Now, some nine years on, there’s a new patch library for it from skendi, via the Anton Anru store, which serves up 64 presets and sequences for the Buchla Easel V. All the provided sequences are in RUN mode, which means that you can change the pitch whilst they’re playing.

Better still, when you buy this pack, you get the presets for the instrument itself, plus versions for Analog Lab if that is your preferred environment for playing the Buchla Easel V. Genome Patterns for Buchla Easel V is available now for $19.95.
