Stems, double the pads, and Fade FX are just a few of the new features in Party Mix III, the latest version of Numark’s beginner-friendly DJ controller. And yes, it’s still got the beat-synced lights.

What was your first DJ controller? If you’re of a certain age, good chances are it was one of Numark’s Party Mix controllers. Everybody’s favorite entry-level two-deck controller is back with a refresh for version three, and you’re going to be surprised by the number of professional features Party Mix III packs in for a very low price.

“The Party Mix has always been the controller that gets people hooked on DJing, and Party Mix III takes that tradition to a whole new level,” said Jake Hill, Senior Marketing Manager–DJ Brands at Numark.

New Features: More Pads and Stems

Looking at the controller, it’s clear that Numark has leveled the party up. It looks like the kind of DJ controller you’d pay a lot more for. A big part of that is the performance pads, now with eight per deck compared to version two’s four. The design is slicker too, I have to say, with the sync button now less prominent.

Another new feature is stems. You know, the ability to split the track up into different musical elements for creative mixing. Stems Control offers two dedicated buttons Instrumental and Acapella – plus access via Pad Mode. Super slick.

You also get Fade FX, which is a set of transitional effects that you activate with the crossfader.

Lights, Party, Bluetooth

The new Party Mix is meant to go with you to the party. With that in mind, it can work with not only laptops but iOS and Android devices too. You can use it wired, of course, but also now wirelessly via Bluetooth 4.2, which connects both audio and MIDI control.

You’ve probably already noticed the lights in the pictures. Those are three LEDs on the rear of the controller that flash in time to the beat

Other functions include two capacitive touch jog wheels, three-band EQ, filter, and main gain knobs, Beat Align indicators on each deck to help you learn manual beatmatching, and a built-in soundcard with speaker and headphone outputs and 24-bit/48kHz audio.

Numark Party Mix III is bus-powered and works with Serato DJ, Algoriddim djay and VirtualDJ, and includes licenses for Serato DJ Lite, Algoriddim djay (iOS, Android), and Algoriddim djay Pro (Mac, PC).
